The Wedding
Abhay and Shilpi had the grand Indian destination wedding with 6 stunning ceremonies to celebrate their love – Sundowner, Sufi Night (Sham-e-Nazrana), Pool Party, Sangeet, Casino Night, Telbaan, Wedding & Reception. Starting with the ‘All-White’ theme sundowner at Nikki Beach, the couple rung in their wedding celebrations dressed impeccably in a white suit for the group and a pouffy white gown for the bride.

Next to follow was the ‘Shaam-e-Nazrana’ where the gorgeous decor of low-seating area and crystal chandeliers, the scent of ittar interspersed with mogras and rajnigandha, Qawali caps and gajras transported the everyone into another world.

On the next morning, the third-celebration had a Nautical-themed pool party where the crowd perfectly into the theme by opting for the quintessential blue and white shades. After a quick change, the couple and their friends and family decided to travel back into time with a ‘Great Gatsby’ themed Sangeet and a Vegas Style Casino Night. The glitz and glamour, endless food and drinks, and incredible dance performances kept everyone entertained well into the early hours of the morning.

The third day began with Telbaan with a ‘Sunflower’ theme since the colour of the ceremony was to be yellow. Sunflower décor everywhere with yellow drapes created a bright environment. For their final (and main) two ceremonies, Shilpi and Abhay went with a ‘Vintage’ theme. Shilpi stunned the crowd with her over-the-top bridal entrance in a boat decorated with flowers. The multicoloured floral arrangement with the pink-hued mandap was definitely decor goals! Raj & Heral New York : Meet Heral, a Bride who did her own Makeup and Designed her Bridal Ensembles!

The Love Story

“To the world, you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world.” — Brandi Snyder

True, isn’t it? Love has its own machinations to get people together even though it may seem otherwise in the beginning. Maybe that’s why cupid is still in business even today. Talking about love, here is a couple who made it together even when odds weren’t in their favour… many times!

Raj and Heral were in the same school in Long Island for three years. However, they weren’t in the same circles who became distant friends as Raj was a year older and in a different grade. They went separate ways for college and Heral thought she would never meet him again. Fast forward to two years later, they bumped into each other again. At that time, Heral was a sophomore at the Fashion Institute of Technology and Raj was a junior at New York University. “In 2014, I moved into an apartment with two friends who attended NYU. By chance, one of them invited me to his apartment-warming party. After three years, it was that night that I ran into Raj again! I was so happy to see a familiar face from high school and to reconnect. At the time, however, he was dating someone else—and so I didn’t push my luck with him,” says Heral.

Again, life came in the way of these destined lovebirds, i.e., they didn’t see each other for the next few months and Heral moved to Florence, Italy to pursue a course. Again, they lost touch with each other. But once when Heral returned to New York, she bumped into Raj again! It was like serendipity! “I had made dinner plans with my former roommate, she told me Raj would be joining us. I didn’t connect the dots or even think it was the same Raj. NYU is filled with people named Raj! To my surprise, it was Raj from high school! After hanging out, I told my friend that I found him really cute, and (much to my excitement) she told me he was single.” – Heral.

Post this chance meeting, they started hanging out and talking more, but because he was busy studying for his LSAT, he gradually distanced himself. Thinking he wasn’t interested, she stopped reaching out too. Later, she attended a friend’s birthday party only because she knew he would be there.

“Unfortunately, I left the party early and didn’t have time to say bye, but soon after got a text from him officially asking if he could take me out on a date. I was thrilled. Knowing how much I missed Italy, he took me to an amazing Italian restaurant in the city.” – Heral.

During the date, neither of them touched their phones or even left a moment of silence. They ended up staying at the restaurant for three hours—so long that the staff had to eventually ask them to leave. “I genuinely loved talking to him. Over the next few months, we would spend hours upon hours talking, texting, having deep and funny conversations, staying up until we forced one another to go to sleep. At that point, I knew I would marry him one day.” – Heral

Being complete opposites; Raj being the calmer, cooler and collected one to Heral’s hyperactive self, helped the couple become each other’s missing half.

The Wedding

As per the couple, planning the wedding was the hardest thing they encountered and we don’t blame them! With full-time jobs and long-distance, it was a tough task. But they did manage thanks to an amazing wedding planner! Their wedding planner helped them in scheduling and planning ahead. They also held many family meetings to ensure everyone was on the same page.

“I was also a bit neurotic about things that needed to get done, so every day I would look at our many Google Docs and make to-do list after to-do list. I also organized all the decor for our events and labelled everything in boxes so it was clear and easy for our families and the wedding planning team when the time came to set up our events. All the crazy hours and list-making worked out!” – Heral.

Heral is a self-confessed flower-fanatic so each event was centred around a specific flower and this was a pattern consistent throughout the wedding. Each flower had a different meaning:

Mehndi Day: Delphinium—A flower that symbolizes big-heartedness, joy, and fun.

Grah Shanti: Aster—A flower that represents wisdom and devotion.

Sangeet: Viscaria—A flower that symbolizes an invitation to dance.

Wedding Day: Jasmine—A flower that symbolizes unconditional and eternal love.

Reception Day: Rose—A flower that symbolizes true love.

Heral wanted flowers to be seen more than just a beautiful item, but for people to know the meaning behind each one. Plus, “I designed all my outfits. I knew what I wanted and had designed all my outfits before even getting engaged. I had a vision and wanted to be sure I could make it happen for the wedding.” – Heral. In fact, this bride went a step ahead – given her love for makeup, she did her own makeup for her wedding. She managed so for each one of her wedding looks.

Gurmit & Heena Happy Valley : A Sikh wedding and a Sindhi wedding for this gorgeous couple!

“Food is symbolic of love when words are inadequate” – Alan D. Wolfel

How They Met
Their paths crossed at a common friend’s party. Gurmit was like a knight in shining armour who basically swept Heena off her feet with his charming personality. Their first date was full of fun, laughter and delicious food. What really brought them closer was their shared passion for food and travelling.

The Proposal
What started out as a normal day, ended up being one of the most memorable days for the couple. Heena went out for lunch with her family, indulged in some shopping then headed home. Little did she know, Gurmit was waiting for her with their passports and plane tickets in hand, ready to whisk Heena away to Singapore! Gurmit popped the question at Gardens by the Bay and of course, Heena said yes!

Wedding Planning
From the beginning, Gurmit and Heena wanted a traditional wedding. They had come across many stories where a wedding combined two different religions but the task was to smoothly execute both ceremonies in a day. They wanted to make sure they got the best of both religions included in the events. Since both of them work and live in Hong Kong, it posed as the perfect destination for all their wedding ceremonies.

The Wedding Ceremonies
Mehendi: The theme of the Mehendi ceremony was ‘Colours of Rajasthan’ and a place called Tandoori Nights was picked as the venue to host the said function. The decor was done by a very close friend and Heena’s brother, making it easy to add personal touches. What’s more, most of the decorations were brought from Jaipur to compliment the theme. Needless to say, everyone did complete justice to the theme and came decked up in bright and vibrant colours. Heena wore a traditional bandhej and leheriya outfit with meenakari earrings and the traditional Rajasthani borla maang tikka while Gurmit went with a blue kurta and a floral Nehru jacket.

Wedding: The wedding took place in two different ways – a Sikh wedding and a Sindhi wedding. For the Sikh wedding, the Gurdwara was decorated personally by the groom’s side of the family. Following the Sikh wedding, the couple also got married at the Hindu Temple where the bride’s parents had gotten married. The temple was decorated by a Chinese wedding company called T&M Decoration. Heena wore a deep red bridal lehenga with a contrast peach chunni paired with kundan jewellery and a pearl nath. Gurmit wore a cream and gold sherwani and accessorised the look with a deep red shawl that complemented the bride’s ensemble.

Reception: The Harbour Grand Kowloon Hotel in Hung Hom was picked for the Reception ceremony. The stunning location provided for an amazing view which gave us an amazing view for our photoshoot, entrance as well as for all the guests visiting. The dress code for the ceremony was finalised as Indian formals or Western formals. The decor was rustic floral and all the decorations were done by T&M Decoration. The backdrop was a rustic wooden arch with beautiful flowers and trees on either sides. The centre pieces for the tables were flowers and candles. Heena wore a gold and green indo-western outfit paired with a beautiful gold and polki jewellery set and maang tikka. Gurmit looked dapper in an emerald green suit and added a dash of bling with a glittery green tie.

Kunal & Anjali Jodhpur : Subtle outfits and understated decor- this couple is giving us major #MinimalWedding goals.

While a whole lot of millennial couples lay emphasis on making their wedding an opulent and grand affair, this couple chose to keep things minimal and super-simple.

Read on to know how they celebrated their love and tied the knot…

The Wedding Festivities

Anjali, the bride, wore a refreshing and bright yellow lehenga for her mehendi ceremony. She paired her elegant outfit with an ethnic pair of earrings and a maangtikka.

As the name suggests, the sangeet witnessed a whole lot of fun, sizzling dance performances and entertaining games like the popular shoe game. The bride was dressed in an edgy and contemporary blue lehenga, sans the dupatta. Kunal wore a subtle asymmetrical blue kurta and complemented the bride extremely well.

For the D-day, Anjali flaunted a stunning embellished salmon pink lehenga paired with simplistic kundan jewellery. Her makeup and hairstyle were extremely minimal yet beautiful. The groom wore a sober ivory sherwani and a beige safa.

Dhruv & Neha Dehradun : An Impressive Destination Wedding with Loads of Decor Inspiration

An offbeat location, loads of decor inspiration and some floral panache- these are just a few words that perfectly describe Neha and Dhruv’s beautiful wedding in Dehradun.

About the Couple

Social media influencer and dentist Neha met invest banker Dhruv via a matrimonial website. Two meetings and just a two month long distance catch-up over messages and Whatsapp was enough for Neha and Dhruv to take the leap of faith and decide upon an arranged marriage. Neha, the bride says, “Well, it seems a little off now-a-days to opt for an arranged marriage, but when you see a guy crack a sense worthy conversation and laugh along with your dad in the very first meeting and be insightful of little things like me being an only child and talk about planning our future accordingly, you know this is man you’ve been looking out for. Two months and two meetings…and we knew this was it!”

The Wedding Festivities

Neha and Dhruv had a big challenge ahead of them- to plan and execute a wedding of their dreams in a span of two months. Let me tell you, they did it effortlessly! Explaining her outfits in detail, Neha says, “Being active on the social media circuit, I had seen a lot of content so was pretty much updated on the latest trends. Though I was pretty sure on what was in-vogue, I also knew what would look good on me as well. So when deciding on the looks for the wedding; this was pretty much my deciding equation- Choose a unique color palette for every occasion and find that outfit that is in vogue but suits me and keeps me comfortable.”

The Mehendi Ceremony

For her Mehandi and Haldi outfit, Neha kept the look easy, a pink sharara and a suit top with a bright pop of colour. A orange genda phool decor was perfect for the mehendi ceremony.

The Engagement Ceremony

“For the Engagement, simply put I wanted to have my princess moment. The gown was not over the top exuberant or flashy and had just the right flare for me to be able to dance. The color and the boat neck is what stole my heart and made me have my princess moment.” says Neha. She made sure that the decor complements her outfit. Both the stage and the main photo-op backdrop for the engagement complimented her ivory gown and his navy blue suit.

The Wedding Ceremony

For the wedding since they opted for a day wedding, Neha opted for a blush pink lehenga which she paired with a zing of silver zari embroidery, some gold and kundan jewellery and a bunch of fresh flowers. “Fresh flower bun, that perfect shade of my lipstick and jewellery selection is something that helped me crack the look. Also for the wedding jewelry, that is indeed the most important pointer for brides and families also. My main vision for my bridal look was to have the focus of the whole look on my face. Which with a jewelry overload gets shifted. Hence, did not opt for the most-treaded path and opted for a face highlight with jewelry elements like the mathapatti, a nose ring and choker.”

Trishy & Niharika Kerala : A lovely destination wedding of the cutest aviators we’ve seen!

Something about Niharika and Trishy caught our eye. Was it the unique sage green lehenga that Niharika wore? Or Trishy’s enthusiasm as he entered with his baraat? Maybe it was just their stunning photos that spoke volumes about them. Fasten your seat belts, ladies and gentlemen, for we are taking you on an extraordinary journey that soars high in the sky!

About the Couple

Aviators and die hard romantics, Niharika and Trishy first met each other at flying school in 2009. The attraction was instantaneous and undeniable. They soon started dating but shared their fair deal of long distance. Trishy says that he knew from the start that he is into this forever while Niharika took some time to warm up. They braved through the distance and took a million flights just to see each other after a long day of work!

The Proposal

Both Niharika and Trishy wanted to achieve certain goals before they tied the knot. Trishy purchased a ring in August 2017 but kept it to himself and waited for the right time to pop the question. Niharika patiently waited for her man to ask for her hand but at the same time bought a ring to surprise him with a counter proposal whenever he asks the big question. They took a trip together to Jodhpur for  a friend’s wedding. They extended their vacation and Trishy booked a gorgeous room for the two of them at Raas. He finally bent down on one knee and asked his lady love for her hand in marriage! Niharika surprised him with a counter proposal! They got engaged in January 2018 and chose 19th February 2019 as their forever date.

The Wedding Festivities

The lovebirds wanted a beach wedding on a luxurious property so they chose The Leela Kovalam as the venue for their destination wedding. The fact that none of their friends got married there and that they love south- Indian food made The Leela Kovalam as a desirable venue.

The Welcome Party

Niharika and Trishy welcomed their families and friends with a fun and interactive games day. The decor was colorful with detailing on the pathway. The event kicked off with a great entry, where Neharika and Trishy made a dramatic entrance to the song ‘Aa dekhen zara… kisme kitna hai dum’. There were different games such as giant volleyball, giant twister, caterpillar race, hurdle game, pass the hula hoop. The teams were divided into the groom’s family who wore blue tee-shirts and the bride’s who wore red tee-shirts.

The Mehendi Ceremony

Day 2 brought about a colourful mehendi ceremony in the lawns. At the entrance was an installation of their pictures from 2009-2019, showcasing the #10YearChallenge. The couple entered hand in hand to the beat of punjabi dhol and smoke bombs.

The Sangeet Ceremony

The mehendi ceremony was followed by an evening full of dance and drama, the sangeet ceremony. They even hosted a Na-Real award ceremony! The photo booth was on point- with metallic backdrops! They even gave flip flops to the ladies as a remedy for their sore feet.

The Wedding

Finally, the day arrived when Niharika and Trishy would be united in holy matrimony. Trishy requested a simple baraat with no taam jhaam. Custom hand fans and shot glasses were handed to the baraatis to beat the Kovalam heat. The groom danced his way to the altar and patiently waited for his bride to arrive. In a matter of minutes, the beautiful bride made an entrance under a phoolon ki chaadar to the song Aafreen Aafreen. She looked resplendent in a sage green heavily embellished lehenga with a front slit. A beautiful mandap was set up on the beach decorated in the colour of lavender and white.
