‘When love knocked on the doors of a lovely Indo-Serbian couple, they knew it was for a lifetime.’
“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ― Lao Tzu
Destiny played cupid in uniting Slobodanka and Ansh and they travelled from being complete strangers to life partners. Hailing from two completely different cultures, backgrounds and even nationalities who could have thought that desi boy Ansh would fall head over heels in love with Slobodanka, a stunning Serbian woman?! Well, you know how the saying goes, ‘Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans!’ That is exactly what happened with these two love birds. And the rest is history 🙂
Hailing from two completely different cultures, Slobodanka and Ansh planned a dreamy Serbian wedding in Serbia, followed by a big fat Indian wedding at the Titanic Mardan Palace in Turkey. This extravagant Indo-Serbian wedding experience was brilliantly planned and executed at a very short notice. All the vendors and collaborators worked the magic behind the scene and made their wedding celebrations look perfect!
Slobodanka shared, “Ansh and I are both working professionals, and so, time is a luxury which both of us are short on. Also, unlike any single-location wedding, shuttling between countries was no small feat. “
The couple chose CineLove to capture their most momentous events. They recount having a pleasant experience collaborating. Slobodanka further says, “We as a couple are awkward when it comes to posing or PDA in general. But Sagar and his team at CineLove made us feel relaxed and comfortable. Despite our apprehensions of giving him candid shots and poses, he managed to surprise us with an exceptional outcome. I think they’re brilliant in what they do if they can manage to make us look this amazing!”
‘When a chance meeting turned into friendship and graduated into love’
“Love is friendship that has caught fire” – Ann Landers
Sparks flew between Shruti and Ronak when they bumped into each other at Mumbai’s famous Canvas Laugh Factory where they had come to enjoy a fun stand-up show. They couldn’t take their eyes off each other and knew it was not merely by chance that the universe had conspired to bring them together. And as fate would have it, they bumped into each other again at Shiamak Davar’s dance studio! Over time they progressed from being great friends to loving companions. Their dance mentor too was instrumental in bringing them closer to each other. And there has been no looking back ever since that day 🙂
Traversing through the ups and downs of their long relationship, sharing and growing together over the years, marriage was the next natural progression of this beautiful chapter. Needless to say, both of them felt it in some magically silent way that the culmination of their loving relationship should lead them into an eternal bond of being man and wife!
Ronak proposed to Shruti in the most romantic way you can imagine! It started with a surprise romantic drive from Mumbai to Pune. Finally, on reaching ‘the spot’ Ronak popped out a ring under the starlit sky and asked the love of his life to marry him.
Beautiful, isn’t it?
The planning for this adorable couple’s Big Fat Indian Wedding began months in advance. Since both reside in South Mumbai, they decided to plan their elaborate and elegant wedding (just like the way they always envisioned their wedding) in premier locations in their part of the city. Hence began the preparation for their larger than life wedding!
The festivities kickstarted with a vibrant mehendi ceremony that was held at Hindu Gymkhana, Marine Drive. The air was filled with excitement and vigour. Post this, a grand sangeet was planned at the spectacular Taj President, Cuffe Parade. In their true extravagant style, the bride and groom were dressed to kill, literally! Shruti looked absolutely mesmerizing in a shimmering white gown while Ronak perfectly complimented her in a chic black tuxedo. The sangeet evening was one affair to remember with memorable performances by their near and dear ones. For Shruti however, dancing along with her to-be spouse to the timeless Celine Dion classic ‘My Heart Will Go On’ was the most cherished memory from the event.
Come d-day, it was time for their much anticipated regal wedding. Being a fashion designer herself, it was Shruti’s long time dream of designing her wedding lehenga herself. Not only did this gorgeous and talented bride design her own lehenga, but also created Rounak’s wedding ensemble. And that’s how the bride, in her intricately crafted pastel pink lehenga, and the groom, in his elegant beige sherwani entered the resplendent setting of Mumbai’s coveted Parsi Gymkhana Ground, Marine Drive which was their wedding venue.
In all, Shruti and Ronak’s long and intimate journey found the perfect expression in the form of their great grand wedding!
About the Photographer
Movieing Moments were responsible for capturing perfect memories and making timeless frames. And what a splendid job they have done! The couple too recounts having a thoroughly positive experience collaborating with them. Shruti further adds, “Vaibhav and his team are a bunch of young folks and a very professional group. His photos leave you feeling so warm and happy. Working with him was a privilege. He is so talented and the entire team worked endlessly to get those perfect shots for us. I feel so incredibly blessed to have crossed paths and worked with someone so talented. None of our photos were staged, and yet he captured every moment so flawlessly.”
The months of January and February are the best months to get married in Mumbai. Yeah, as the island city doesn’t have a winter season, these months are comparatively cooler, and there is certain spring in one’s step we think! Bride Simran and groom Ruchit had elaborate wedding plans between January and February 2020. This good-looking pair met through mutual friends and one month into the relationship, Simran knew he was the one for her!
They had planned five events – two in Mumbai and three events over a three-day cruise in Singapore. Their cruise was to bring together 300-400 guests and loved ones from across the world, and it was to be one big party! Sounds exciting, right? Yes, it was until COVID-19 happened.
All was going well until the coronavirus spread rapidly across the world. Soon, it was termed as a Pandemic by WHO. So, the couple had to re-think their cruise trip. “There was no lockdown imposed then, but many cases were being reported from different parts of the world. We were going to have so many guests over from different locations. We did not want to risk it as if something untoward happened then the entire crowd would be in danger. So, we decided to postpone it indefinitely… for now!” says Simran.
Their Sangeet, the wedding and reception took place on 29th & 30th of January 2020. These functions happened without any glitch. For the Sangeet, Simran looked stunning in a Manish Malhotra ensemble – a heavily embroidered skirt with a ruffled hem and a ruffled dupatta draped on the side with a sexy blouse. The groom matched her in a dapper outfit by Raghavendra Rathore. For the wedding and reception, she wore a gorgeous Anushree Reddy lehenga, and the groom wore an outfit by designer Sonam Luthria.
So, what’s in store next? “We are going to continue it as is! And mostly make it our 1st-anniversary celebration!” adds Simran. That sounds like a plan to us, and we hope they do get to party on their cruise as promised!

Yes, this is exactly how our couple Kevin and Dhwani wedding story begins…
Kevin and Dhwani had planned a grand ‘Big Fat Gujju’ wedding for themselves but the pandemic had other plans. While this was upsetting, they did not give up hope. Therefore, as soon as the government announced the unlock phase 1.0, they gathered their family together to head to Saputara in Gujarat to celebrate their intimate lockdown destination wedding!
Therefore, with careful planning, considering all Government norms, keeping sanitisation and safety as their main priority, they tied the knot at Sunotel Resort, Saputara on 1st June 2020.
Weddings are often considered events where families and friends come together to enjoy big celebrations but given the situation, the couple and their families ensured that their wedding was an intimate one where all social distancing norms were followed. And who knew that such strong and determined love for each other could turn this event as one of the most memorable experiences of a lifetime!
For their intimate mehendi ceremony, Dhwani looked like a gypsy princess in her yellow and grey lehenga outfit. Her lehenga hem featured a silver sequin border and she completed her look with stunning silver jewellery.
For her sangeet ceremony, Dhwani stunned in a teal blue gown while Kevin wore a grey bandhgala to match her.
For the Haldi ceremony, she wore a bright yellow ensemble and red and white floral jewellery.
For the main wedding ceremony, Dhwani looked like a princess in her red wedding lehenga. She completed her look with heavy gold jewellery with polki and emeralds, and a heavy gold matha patti.
The groom wore an embroidered sherwani in green with matching safa and kalgi.

‘When love found its way in the most unusual setting, these lovebirds decided to settle together, forever’
“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.” –Maya Angelou
Love blossomed between Suhani and Keshav over a period of three long years. They met each other while pursuing their CA articleship and started out as good friends. As time passed, they ended up spending a lot of time together and realized they absolutely enjoy being in each other’s company. At the end of those three long and memorable years, they knew that they were ready to be more than just good friends!
When you’ve known someone for that long, everything else just becomes about doing the needful when the time is right. Hence, even in their case, there was no planned proposal as such as they both knew they wanted to be with each other forever. However, it was a text from Keshav that read ‘I see you as my life partner and I can spend the rest of my life with you’ that did the magic! Over time these lovebirds brought their parents on board. The decision to tie the knot was mutual. And they set out on the journey to become man and wife with the blessings of their families and loved ones.
Since Keshav was pursuing his master’s in the US, Suhani along with the help of both the families laid the groundwork for all the marriage prep over a meticulous span of six months. From reaching out to relatives and friends asking recommendations to carrying out her own respective research, this soon-to-be-bride held the fort beautifully. When Keshav came back on his summer break, that’s when he finalized his outfits and looked into the little details.
(Smooth and uncomplicated teamwork at play, isn’t it?!)
Suhani and Keshav had a memorable two day November affair in Bangalore. It started with a fun mehendi and tilak ceremony in the day. The ambiance was gorgeously done up in hues of vibrant pink. The stunning bride donned a lovely pink lehenga by Esha Koul and was adorned in beautiful floral jewellery by Floral Art by Shrishti. Keshav perfectly complemented his lady love by turning up in a colour-coordinated pink bandhgala
The latter half of the day was followed by a happening sangeet and ring ceremony in the evening. For this event Suhani opted for a resplendent gold ball gown by Sulakshana Monga while Keshav looked every bit of a sophisticated dapper groom in a black angrakha style bandhgala.
The second day kickstarted with a vibrant haldi ceremony in the day. The bride and groom both stepped out in colour-coordinated yellow outfits. While Suhani chose to wear a yellow sharara which she paired with another stunning set of floral jewellery, Keshav kept it subtle in an elegant kurta pyjama.
The evening was followed by the wedding rituals. Suhani looked like a dream in an elegant Sabyasachi magenta lehenga. Keshav looked no less in an embroidered peach sherwani which he paired with an ivory stole. The marriage rituals were carried out beautifully and the atmosphere was filled with joy and lightness. For this lovely couple, their inter caste marriage turned out to be much more memorable than they had envisioned and they couldn’t be more grateful to their parents for their support and blessings.
Neeta Shankar was roped in as the wedding photographer for all the events. As Suhani had already collaborated with the photographer on a prior occasion, she couldn’t think of anyone else to capture her life’s most important days. Suhani articulated her experience by saying,
“Neeta is an amazing photographer. I had worked with her earlier(before I hired her for my wedding) for my portfolio shoots and I was very comfortable with her. Her team was working relentlessly, literally on their toes during those 2 days. They made Keshav and me feel like we are celebrities waiting to be papped. They captured each and every moment beautifully and when I look at the pictures now, it’s hard for me to choose the best because all are so good.”
“Love isn’t something that you find, it’s something that finds you.” – Anonymous
The above line rings true in the case of our lovely couple – Rachit and Richa. Unlike a mushy romantic love story, this couple met through an arranged marriage setup. But soon fell in love with each other.
It was as if the universe wanted Richa and Rachit to fall in love and spend an eternity together. So, when Rachit’s father got a WhatsApp message with Richa’s biodata, Rachit happened to go through it. In an instant, Rachit felt he wanted to meet her and explore what their future prospects would be like. In fact, even his friends thought that Richa was a good match for him.
“On our first meeting, we met with the entire family. Within five minutes of our meeting, Rachit decided that because we (Rachit & I) had to make a decision about our future, we needed some space to talk.” Says Richa, the bride.
Their discussion went on for about two hours. They then decided they had to meet again. This second meeting too, had them talking and discussing their future plans for many hours. “Before my second meeting, it got me thinking… I had never felt this way about a girl. I was thinking a lot about her. So, I felt we had something special and could make this work.” – Rachit, the groom.
The brief courtship period was a complete rollercoaster ride as Richa says Rachit has a very crazy side to him and no one can put anything past him. Remembering one such event, Richa says, “He surprised me and everyone, when he came with a small baraat, made up of his friends, family and the dholwalahs to my residence at 1 AM just before the wedding festivities began. He did so to surprise me as I had mentioned ki Ghar par baraat aane ki feel hee alag hoti hogi na…”
Planning the wedding was another task. The couple maintained many excel sheets to ensure no detail was missed out. It was tough but they managed it together.
They decided to tie the knot at Best Western Manesar, Haryana on 9th December 2019. For her wedding, Richa wanted everything unusual, i.e., different and unique from everything she had seen so far at weddings.
Therefore, they created a stop motion video as their invitation instead of regular wedding cards.
The wedding ceremonies kicked off with the Mehendi ceremony where the theme was orange and green. For her mehendi ceremony, Richa wore a sage green lehenga and matching floral jewellery. She paired her lehenga with a pink dupatta. Her groom, Rachit wore an indo-western outfit in red and green to match his bride.
To make the event even more, they pair had a flashmob to get every dancing!
Their sagan ceremony had a Moroccan theme party. For this function, Richa wore a deep purple lehenga choli with mirror work by Payal Sethi. Rachit looked dapper in his royal midnight blue outfit with embroidered golden birds.
The Sagan ceremony saw Richa perform a bridal solo dance as a tribute to her parents. At the sangeet ceremony, they had a Big Boss-like event.

It has been almost four months since the country faced a strict lockdown situation. Never in our wildest dreams did we even think, we did have to cancel our grand wedding plans, international trips or even a trip to the favourite restaurant due to a virus! But yes, the coronavirus is rife across the world even now and therefore, lockdown weddings, and even lockdown sangeet has become a real thing!
When it comes to Indian weddings, the celebrations are incomplete without a grand sangeet ceremony. Be it a daytime ladies sangeet event when aunties, grandmothers and didis sing folk songs as the dholak adds to the background score or the ‘propah’ wedding sangeet ceremony that has the ladke wale and ladki wale compete with choreographed and practised dance steps – sangeet ceremonies are a great way to bond and have fun during the wedding festivities.
Bollywood films have long romanticised this celebration what with umpteen number of songs written and shot celebrating the ‘sangeet’ ceremony itself! In fact, many a romantic story has begun thanks to this celebration…
So, while we miss our grand sangeet ceremony rituals, it does not mean that we will not try our best to enjoy our lockdown sangeet ceremony! Here are four lockdown sangeet ceremony ideas for couples planning an intimate wedding –
#1 An Intimate Lockdown Wedding Sangeet Ceremony
Yes, save yourself the heartache and make the best of the situation at hand. In the days of yore, sangeet ceremonies were done on a very small scale, i.e., at home itself. It was probably a divided celebration with ladies enjoying on their own singing folk songs and dancing. However, in today’s day and time, a sangeet function can be done in the same way.
Plan an intimate sangeet ceremony that includes your immediate family members and friends.
#2 Plan Two Sangeets
Yeah. You read that right. In this lockdown situation, weddings or any other functions can host only 50 people at max. But given the Indian family situation, it will be difficult to cut out immediate family members from both sides. Therefore, the best solution is to have two sangeets – ek ladkiwale enjoy kare aur doosra ladkewale! In this way, both sides can enjoy with their friends and family without having to cut out family or friends.
Until four months ago, a virtual sangeet or a virtual wedding was unheard of. Yes, weddings were streamed online but for distant family members and friends who couldn’t make it to the event. However, today, a virtual wedding or a virtual sangeet is a very big part of our reality. For a virtual sangeet, you will need to do a lot of planning, maybe even more than the actual one!
For starters, rope in all enthusiastic dancers (from among the family and friends) across the globe. If they wish to participate, they can prepare their own dance routine. Or if there is a choreographer involved, then a video with all the dance steps can help them learn. On the day of the sangeet function, dance performances can be live streamed and enjoyed by all.
The more the merrier, right? Yeah, who can say no multiple parties at weddings! So, the cure to include all your loved ones albeit in small doses is to host multiple sangeet parties. You can begin with two sangeets (as we mentioned above). Further, you can host a sangeet ceremony only for friends as well. If you are a popular couple, then host two sangeets for your friends to ensure all the important ones get to attend and be a part of your wedding festivities.
However, before you start planning your lockdown sangeet ceremony, you need to take in account and practice the following –
#1 Ensure social distancing – Yes, you think it may not be possible but it is. Even for smaller functions, seating arrangements can be set up with a decent distance between them. Avoid hugging or any other physical closeness.
#2 Maintain hygiene – This is super important. Keep sanitizers handy. Ensure the washrooms are clean and are periodically cleaned with disinfectants. Inform your friends and families of the many measures they will have to participate in beforehand – thermal screening, temperature checks, wearing masks, etc.
#3 Get RSVP – This is an important measure today so as to keep a check on guests – their location and their health condition. If they are unwell, they should avoid attending.
There’s a certain charm about lockdown weddings, don’t you think? It reinstates the whole idea of ‘chat mangni, pat biyah’ and how! Under normal circumstances, couples meeting through an arranged match would want to spend more time together to get to know each other before they decide to take the plunge in holy matrimony. However, since the lockdown in India, and across the world, we have seen that couples who had just met or were in a relationship and planning their big fat wedding celebrations, suddenly decided to tie the knot either over a zoom call, google hangouts or have small intimate weddings amidst the pandemic.
And one such story is that of former Miss India, the lovely Koyal Rana. Koyal met Ayush, a Delhi-based businessman only a few months back. In fact, they met during the lockdown itself. Having met through their families, things moved really fast for this couple. And for the inquisitive ones, Koyal says, “it was a destined wedding!”
But how did Koyal and Ayush decide to be life partners so quickly? Well, their families met over tea and the couple was introduced to each other. Soon they got talking and spoke about education, spirituality and even history. Koyal was so enamoured that she never wanted the conversation to end!
They both realised they had many things in common and grew up believing the same value systems and similar aspirations. In short, this match was heaven sent! However, the couple did not exchange numbers. They did not speak for a week post their first meeting. Then Ayush called on Koyal’s mother’s number and they continued their conversation. They both decided to get married and go with the flow as everything felt right.
To further strengthen their match, when Koyal sent a piece of her written work to Ayush, he made some poignant observations about the project and Koyal was touched. Soon, they wrote lengthy emails and these emails turned into virtual love letters in no time. They decided to meet again and this time around, they figured out that they were meant to be together. Koyal says, “The most important decision of our lives, was the easiest one!”
But here’s the catch – the country was in quarantine and therefore, the typical big fat Indian weddings were a Big NO. But for Koyal this was the perfect setting. This is because she had always wanted an intimate wedding with a simple ceremony with her closest friends and family only. And a lockdown wedding presented her with this perfect opportunity. So, this lockdown, intimate wedding was a dream come true for her. Also, a small marriage ceremony does have its perks! In a small marriage ceremony, you can spend more quality time with your loved ones and it is easier to mingle and to have a conversation too. In short, great memories with people who matter the most!
The Quarantine Wedding
Like all Indian weddings, the wedding festivities kicked off with a Haldi function, followed by Sangeet and Mehendi. For her Mehendi and wedding, Koyal reached out to VowtoWow.co to help style her stunning outfits. Meenal Narula and Venika Khanna of VTW helped Koyal with the best outfits and styled her looks for the functions.
For her mehendi, which was a fun yet laidback affair, Koyal wore orange linen pants with an embroidered blouse in peach and a ruffle-trimmed organza cape jacket in blush pink. She completed her look with a simple yet elegant layered diamond jewellery from Kotwala jewellers. Staying true to a simple wedding, Koyal opted for minimal bridal mehendi as well. And not to miss the matching mask to go with her outfit!
For her wedding, Koyal wore a stunning baby pink heavily embroidered lehenga. Her look was simple, with flawless makeup that enhanced her already beautiful features. She completed her look with an emerald layered haar and a diamond emerald necklace – all from Kotwala jewellers, a perfect contrast to her pink lehenga.
While weddings in India are huge affairs, given the current quarantine situation, the government norms allow only 50 pax events. Therefore, for their wedding, this couple was on the lookout for places to have a small wedding. And they narrowed down on a farmhouse in Delhi.
The wedding was hosted at a farmhouse in Delhi with only immediate family members in attendance. While Koyal had always wanted a small wedding, she did miss her friends and extended family members who couldn’t make it.
