An Incredible Indo-Serbian Wedding- Ansh & Slobodanka

AnshAna Destination Wedding

‘When love knocked on the doors of a lovely Indo-Serbian couple, they knew it was for a lifetime.’

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ― Lao Tzu

The Story

Destiny played cupid in uniting Slobodanka and Ansh and they travelled from being complete strangers to life partners. Hailing from two completely different cultures, backgrounds and even nationalities who could have thought that desi boy Ansh would fall head over heels in love with Slobodanka, a stunning Serbian woman?! Well, you know how the saying goes, ‘Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans!’ That is exactly what happened with these two love birds. And the rest is history 🙂

The Wedding

Hailing from two completely different cultures, Slobodanka and Ansh planned a dreamy Serbian wedding in Serbia, followed by a big fat Indian wedding at the Titanic Mardan Palace in Turkey. This extravagant Indo-Serbian wedding experience was brilliantly planned and executed at a very short notice. All the vendors and collaborators worked the magic behind the scene and made their wedding celebrations look perfect!

Slobodanka shared, “Ansh and I are both working professionals, and so, time is a luxury which both of us are short on. Also, unlike any single-location wedding, shuttling between countries was no small feat. “

Jasnoor and Rakesh Lovely Ludhiana Wedding

Love is a friendship that has caught fire.” – Ann Landers

‘When colleagues turned friends and finally lovers, a cross-cultural wedding was only inevitable!’

The Story

Sparks flew between Jasnoor and Rakesh in the City of Joy- Kolkata where they both had been working together. Starting out as colleagues, their bond gradually developed into a warm friendship. Things took a turn when they both realized they are fond of dancing together! To recount this in Jasnoor’s words who says, “ I think we fell deeper in love every time we danced together. From dancing together in office parties, events, out with friends, our sangeet dance performance to the impromptu dances we break into now and again when the right music comes up, all these things brought us closer. And apart from that we are both big foodies and have enjoyed exploring different cuisines together and cooking for each other.”

Isn’t this a refreshing story?!

The Proposal

When you’ve clicked with someone so well, then everything else becomes an extension. Hence, even in their case, there was no planned proposal as such as they both knew they wanted to be with each other forever. The decision to tie the knot was mutual. However, Jasnoor ensured that she gets the proposal she always envisioned. She says, “After massive complaining on my end, Rakesh finally got down on one knee in Goa during our wedding pre-shoot!”

The Wedding

Jasnoor and Rakesh’s wedding was a lovely cross-cultural experience of cultures and cuisine in their Punjabi meets Keralite style wedding. They decided to host their wedding festivities in Ludhiana, Jasnoor’s hometown and bring a splendid end to their festivities by hosting a reception in Thiruvananthapuram, Rakesh’s hometown. As they were both working in Mumbai at that time, all their wedding planning was done via video calls! Jasnoor elaborates, “It wasn’t easy! But it was definitely super fun. My biggest advice would be to start at least 6-7 months in advance and have your little army of helpers! We both shopped for our rings, his whole wardrobe and part of mine from Mumbai where we lived. For the rest, our families coordinated, we visited our hometowns for shopping trips and video calls came in handy! We shortlisted jewellery, clothes, invitation cards, venues over video calls!”

She also further adds, “I was super picky and we ended up customizing almost everything. My sister was my true Maid of Honour, helping me shortlist and book the photographer, makeup artists, mehendi artists, decorators etc. We went through so many options for each of these and saw detailed reviews, portfolios etc and booked between one to four months in advance. I had been following Think Tonk’s work since undergrad! I liked his candid style so he was my first choice for the functions in Punjab. For Kerala we chose Colorpadam Photography who turned out to be great at capturing our happy moments as well! I think it’s super important to be clear of what you want, go through tonnes of reference pictures and figure out what kind of look you want, what kind of photography, venues etc. For makeup I was super clear I wanted something very light, I did not want to look like paint had been plastered on my face!! We chose well recommended local salons for the other function and Zareen Bala for the wedding.

We customized almost everything! The lehenga design, the sangeet attire, the jewellery, the mehndi, the choora everything was a mix of at least 3-4 designs which I loved. We designed our own Save the Date card, Rakesh’s best friend designed the invitations from his side & we made dress codes for all functions.

Lockdown Wedding Diaries: Kajal Aggarwal Weds Gautam Kitchlu in an Intimate Wedding Ceremony in Mumbai

We’ve all heard the famous saying, ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’ However, a thought that has truly resonated with this unusual year is, ‘Where there is love, there is a way!’ From what seemed like a doomed year (courtesy the global covid-19 pandemic) to the trend that lockdown weddings have now become, we’ve all certainly traversed a long path. If there is one thing that kept us hooked and happy in this lockdown phase, it was to see couples beating all odds to get married in the midst of a global health crisis! Be it the lockdown weddings of celebrity couples or unique stories of people who have gone out of their way to get hitched, we’ve seen it all. And today, another celebrity joins this list.

Enthralling us with her performances in films like Singham, Magadheera, Thuppakki, Special 26 and many more, Kajal Aggarwal gave her fans another surprise this October by announcing her marriage plans with Mumbai-based entrepreneur Gautam Kitchlu. And ever since, we have been eagerly awaiting to watch this cute couple finally walk down the aisle! Joining what now seems like a legit term- ‘the corona/lockdown wedding club’ this couple finally got hitched in a small intimate wedding ceremony at Mumbai’s iconic Taj Mahal Hotel.

The wedding festivities for Kajal and Gautam’s intimate nuptial kickstarted with a beautiful haldi and mehendi ceremony at home. True to the spirit of home weddings, the to-be bride was surrounded with her closest ones to ring in her joy. She kept her looks for both events simple yet elegant. For the haldi, Kajal donned a bright yellow outfit and was adorned in floral jewellery. And her mehendi look was characterized by a stunning green ethnic ensemble and gorgeous jewellery. For her marriage ceremony, she looked straight out of a dream in a bright red intricately embellished lehenga. Gautam Kitchlu complemented his bride in a gorgeous sherwani, styled with a pale pink dupatta

Extending our hearty congratulations to this lovely couple, let’s take a look at their wedding pictures here:

Unita and Nikhil Abu Dhabi Destination Wedding

‘An arranged meeting turns into a life, love and laughter session and transforms into a beautiful companionship!’

  The Story

Unita and Nikhil were introduced to each other by their respective families as part of a lovely arranged marriage set-up. To put in their own words, it was a ‘love at the first meeting’ for them both. Conversations flowed easily, so much so that a two hours meeting turned into a six hours session of laughter, sharing stories and life experiences. Unita recalls this meeting and says, “ It was like I had known him forever. We both realized that we had the same outlook to life; we had unconventional but similar ideas on how we wanted to lead our lives, something neither of us had found in anyone until then. It all worked out beautifully, and we were officially engaged within a few months.”

Isn’t this wonderful?!

The Proposal

When you’ve clicked with someone so well, then everything else becomes an extension. Hence, even in their case, there was no planned proposal as such as they both knew they wanted to be with each other forever. The decision to tie the knot was mutual. And this is how Unita and Nikhil set out on their nuptial journey with the blessings of their families and loved ones.

The Wedding

Their initial plan was to have a traditional Indian wedding, lots of guests and functions, in short, a big fat Indian wedding’ But once they started the planning process – scoping out venues and shortlisting vendors, it just didn’t feel right. It was turning into an affair that just wasn’t what they truly believed a wedding should be – small, intimate, and elegant. One day, after a long and exhausting day of wedding planning, they went out for a couple drinks. Unwinding over drinks they joked about scrapping the whole wedding and doing a holiday-wedding with just their immediate families instead – just parents and siblings.

Reminiscing this shift in thought, Unita says, “ The more we talked about it, the more confident we felt. I suggested doing our pheras on this family holiday. I couldn’t think of a better way to be married, surrounded by those who matter the most to us. The next day, our idea still sounded good (even without the liquid courage of alcohol), so we made the decision to have a small destination wedding. Convincing the families was a challenge, but we prevailed. Nikhil and I consider ourselves blessed to have families that support us and put our happiness above all else.”

And that is how the breathtaking desert location of The Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara, Abu Dhabi turned out to be their destination wedding venue. This grand palatial resort located literally in the middle of nowhere was an absolute dream! Unita expresses her joy and recalls, “ I had always wished to be married in a palace, and as luck would have it, I did (Qasr Al Sarab meaning Palace of Mirage). We organized everything from India itself via phone and WhatsApp. Our wedding was so peaceful and relaxed. No chaos, no stress, no drama. We were at ease, our families were at ease, and we could actually enjoy the function. I remember how serene it was – the elegant mandap, the beautiful quiet desert surrounding us, and the laughter of our families and the wedding mantras chanted by the pandit being the only sounds. And the icing on the ‘wedding’ cake – gorgeous pictures to serve as a memory of that monumental day.”

We truly couldn’t be more happier for this couple:)

Being a bridal stylist herself, Unita was quite particular about the look she wanted. In fact, another reason that pushed her towards an intimate and small wedding was the outfits. She says, “With a traditional wedding, I’d have to wear multiple heavy outfits, none that could be easily repeated. It’s not my style to be over the top and spend extravagant amounts on clothes that can’t be worn again. I genuinely believe in sustainability and wanted to stand out without being loud. Thankfully I found a partner who believes the same.”

Hence our lady in love chose to wear a Sabyasachi floral lehenga that was literally out of dream – being luxurious, yet understated. Nikhil’s outfits were designed by Unita! And that is how both look perfectly colour-coordinated in burgundy, while the families were styled in gold and ivory. These colours were specifically chosen to go with the desert background. Everyone was styled in comfortable yet elegantly stylish outfits, which only added to the stress-free vibe.

And finally summing her intimate destination wedding in Abu Dhabi, Unita remarks, “For anyone on the fence about a traditional big wedding versus a really small and intimate one, I say, go with the latter. I had one even before it was the norm, and I have no regrets. You want your wedding day to be one that is joyful, you want to look into the faces of those who are genuinely happy to be there and share this big day with them. Nikhil and I did, and it was amazing.”

Intimate Home Lockdown Wedding: Deepika Weds Chitang in Mumbai

Bride Deepika Ghose and Groom Chitang had planned a destination wedding in Phuket, Thailand for 7th and 8th of March 2020. “I had dreamed and planned with every detail – it was my wedding after all, and like most girls, I had been planning it since before I can even remember,” says Deepika. The couple had waited for a long time, six and a half years to be precise when it came to finalising their wedding day.

They had braved many delays and changes and had finally managed to work out the dates that suited both families. “We even had a traditional Gujarati card writing ceremony a month before the wedding dates so we couldn’t change the dates!” adds Deepika. But the Coronavirus happened, and things started to fall apart… “I was still hopeful that the situation would die down, and we would still be able to have our dream destination beach wedding. We had paid for everything in advance – hotels, vendors, Thailand based planners, all our guests had booked flights etc…”

But as the pandemic worsened, they started worrying and were torn between cancelling, postponing and relocating the wedding. Unfortunately, the situation became such that their grandparents were asked not to travel as their age was a risk factor. And this decision prompted them to have a small intimate ceremony in Mumbai itself, at Deepika’s Nani’s house with their immediate family present. So, with their grandparents, parents and real siblings, they tied the knot in a simple ceremony. “It was beautiful and meaningful and special – I have practically grown up in that apartment, and it is also where my parents got married, so it was auspicious for many reasons.,” says Deepika.

The couple, albeit happy with their situation, did want to celebrate with their friends and extended family, but that would be a story for another day. Just ten days before their actual wedding date, they had to cancel all their bookings in Phuket as the situation had gone from bad to worse. So, they decided to have smaller functions in Bangalore set on 7th & 8th of March. Lucky for them India was not in complete lockdown yet.

Deepika and Chitang then planned an entire wedding from décor to venue to everything else in 10 days! Of course, there were heartbreaks as many guests couldn’t make it and they couldn’t replicate a beach wedding, so they had to make do with what was available to them.

“We learned to let go of the small things and minute details that I was once so determined to perfect for the occasion. We consciously focused on the meaning behind the wedding and the celebration and what’s important. Our guests were so helpful, supportive and understanding every step of the way and we felt so blessed and so grateful that we were able to still have a celebration as well as our meaningful wedding. We learned how to approach the situation with grace instead of regret, and we were all happy with the way (most) of it went off.”

Kerala Lockdown Wedding- Aswini and Arjun’s Anamthara River View Resort Wedding

‘When a pleasant arranged meeting turned into a sweet marriage story’

“Love makes your soul crawl out from its hiding place.” – Zora Neale Hurston

The Story

Aswini and Arjun were introduced to each other by their families and developed a liking for each other almost instantly. Soon technology played cupid too and they found themselves glued to the phone, conversing, sharing and laughing for hours on end. A couple of brief meetings and pleasant dates proved to be the icing on the cake for this couple who had by now started falling for each other. The sweet culmination of all of this convinced them that they had found a true soulmate in each other!

The Proposal

As theirs was an arranged match, there was no typical ‘proposal’ as such to take things to the next level. However, they shared innumerable special moments with each other for them to realise that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives with each other. Add to this journey, the entire lockdown period which truly ended up cementing their relationship. As Aswini recounts, “The lockdown restricted us to meet each other. That craving to meet ended up in beautiful  moments which were inexplicable”

The Wedding

Aswini and Arjun were clear from the start that their marriage has to represent all things elegant and subtle. Hence everything was planned keeping these two things in mind. They opted for an intimate wedding which spanned two days. And began the preparation for their close-knit, memorable and meaningful wedding.

They had a small engagement ceremony to begin with. While this programme seamlessly unfolded in the day, the same evening a cultural ceremony was planned. As part of this, the groom handed over the bridal saree to his soon-to-be wife. Day two was when the actual marriage ceremony took place. For this day, Aswini looked like a dream in a stunning kanchi saree. She paired this with traditional jewellery. The man of the day, Arjun opted for a subtle and traditional look as well and donned a white shirt and mundu. True to their vision and theme of marriage, this couple got married just the way they envisioned with the blessings of their family and friends. As they say, ‘All’s well that ends well’ in this case, let’s just say, ‘All’s well that begins well!’ 🙂

Pragati and Kartik’s Intimate-Fun Delhi Wedding

‘When a journey of a decade blossomed into marriage’

Love isn’t something you find. Love is something that finds you.” -Loretta Young

The Story

Love blossomed between Pragati and Kartik over a period of twelve long years! They met each other way back in 2008 and started out as good friends. As time passed, they ended up spending a lot of time together and realized they absolutely enjoy being in each other’s company. The magical feeling of being around each other each time was enough to quickly turn the tables and make them realize that they were more than just friends. Spanning a timeline of more than a decade and transitioning from being best friends to lovers, they knew it was time to enter into another phase of life and live as man and wife!

The Proposal

When you’ve known someone for that long, everything else just becomes about doing the needful when the time is right. Hence, even in their case, there was no planned proposal as such as they both knew they wanted to be with each other forever. Over time these lovebirds brought their parents on board. The decision to tie the knot was mutual. And they set out on their nuptial journey with the blessings of their families and loved ones.

The Wedding

Pragati and Kartik had a memorable nuptial journey at the picturesque Satvik by Chhabra Farm in Delhi. It started with a beautiful engagement ceremony. For this, the stunning bride wore a lovely navy blue gown while the groom looked dapper in a brocade three-piece suit. This was followed by a fun mehendi and haldi morning ceremony. The ambiance was gorgeously done up in hues of vibrant yellow flowers. Pragati donned a green and was adorned in beautiful floral jewellery.

Destination Wedding in Nashik – Aaditi Weds Dhruv at Soma Vine Village

Do you believe in ‘love at first sight’? For our cute couple, Aaditi and Dhruv, it was love at first date! The world of dating today involves many apps. You post your profile; you browse pictures and swipe right if you happen to like someone. And if things go well, you can plan an actual date.

This is exactly how Aaditi and Dhruv’s love story began. They met each other on 17th September in New York City, having met on a dating app. They planned to meet at the City Vineyards, Battery Park for their first date. And the couple hit it off immediately. They spent their date laughing, telling stories from their life and spoke for hours. Before the night was over, Dhruv realised he had found his lady love!

The couple, both having carved a niche for themselves in their respective careers in the world of finance, Aaditi and Dhruv connected on a deeper level as individuals. They both were immigrants, career-oriented, had similar stories and values they shared. And together, as a couple, they felt at home with each other. This is what strengthened their love all the more!

Over time, Aaditi and Dhruv explored the hidden gems of NYC together and chatted their evenings away into late hours of the night.

But how did they decide to seal the deal and tie the knot? Dhruv had to move to San Francisco for a new career opportunity, and on her first trip to the city to meet him, Dhruv had planned an elaborate evening on the coast. Being a typical Virgo, he had made dinner reservations at Greens for a specific time when the sun would set so that they could enjoy the beautiful sunset on the coast together. During this dinner, seeing the planning, the lovely ambience and the delicious food that Dhruv had planned all for her, Aaditi was hit by this simplicity and thoughtfulness. Dhruv was pure joy to her. Despite moving away from NYC, the couple continued their never-ending dates. They kept up by Facetiming each other and taking trips together to spend quality time.

And even though Aaditi was totally charmed by Dhruv’s wits and thoughtfulness and peppy personality, it was our commitment to each other over long-distance made it real for Aaditi.

The Proposal

Now, no love story of our times is complete without an amazing proposal, right? In October 2018, when Dhruv and Aaditi were visiting Greece and island hopping, he had planned an elaborate romantic proposal for her in Calderas, Santorini. But the rain gods had other plans and his plans fell flat! But the man did not lose hope and just before their dinner reservations, under the moonlit sky on the roof of one of the Calderas, by the blue-domed historic Church (yes, just like in the films!), Dhruv got down on his knees to propose Aaditi. And what’s more – he even had a ring in her size and that too with the family heirloom diamond!

This took Aaditi by total surprise! Before this, they had never discussed rings! How did he even know her ring size? When did he even ask for permission to propose from Aaditi’s family? Turns out the whole thing was planned weeks in advance by him.

Meet the Parents

Now here’s the plot twist! So far, Dhruv and Aaditi’s love story was smooth and without any bumps but as soon as the families were involved… things changed. No, not for the worse but as this was going to be a cross-cultural wedding, i.e., Aaditi being a Maharashtrian and Dhruv being a Gujarati, both families were concerned about cultures clashing.

But it was Dhruv’s sister who spearheaded the meet with his parents. They had their concerns since Aaditi wasn’t “Gujju”. But Namrata (Dhruv’s elder sister) and Dhruv worked hard on convincing them to focus on things that really mattered. And after spending some time with Aaditi without reservations, they gave a thumbs up.  On the other hand, Aaditi’s mom had met Dhruv and she liked him. But, the rest of the family had their reservations as well. Since he wasn’t “Marathi”. Aaditi and family friends had to work on getting them to focus on values and similarities instead of cultural differences.

Both sides understandably had inhibitions. But with nudges to approach this with an open mind and spending quality time with Dhruv and Aaditi, family on both sides couldn’t help but really like their jodi!

Planning the Wedding

Finally, as the families warmed up to each other and accepted the couple wholeheartedly, their wedding date and venue was decided. As both belonged to India, it was only natural, they celebrate their wedding among their friends and family back home. So, for the couple, it became a destination wedding and a very unique one at that! Plus, Dhruv’s family who were settled in the US for a while, saw this as a great opportunity to explore their home country!

For the venue of their celebrations, Dhruv and Aaditi booked the Soma Vine Village in Nashik. They chose a vineyard as a tribute to their very first date at the City Vineyards, Battery Park, NYC. Another important reason why the couple chose a vineyard for their destination wedding venue was that they both were very keen on having a rustic themed destination wedding. “With amazing vineyard properties in Aaditi’s hometown itself, we did end up having the destination wedding we always wanted in a place that meant so much for Aaditi.” – Dhruv.

“The initial wedding planning phase was quite stressful, as managing communication with potential vendors in India while working on the west and east coast time zones in the US was quite challenging. But once we were able to lock down wedding planners from F5 Weddings, the process became much simpler. The F5 team helped us find a method to manage the chaos that comes with minutiae of wedding planning.”

With Aaditi in New York, Dhruv in San Francisco, F5 in Mumbai and vendors in Nashik, the F5 team worked odd hours to help make decisions together and then get them done during India business hours. Another important aspect of planning this wedding was to ensure all three cultures were equally presented – Maharashtrian, Gujarati and American.

“A third of our wedding guests were Gujjus, another third Marathis and the last third Americans. We wanted our wedding to encompass all the special and sweet traditions from each of these 3 cultures that have been near and dear to us. At the same time, we wanted all of our guests to experience each of these cultures new to them.” says Dhruv.

The Wedding

The main wedding took place on 20th of December 2019 and the wedding functions were spread out over two days. They kicked off the wedding festivities with a Garba-themed sangeet to showcase the colourful Indian culture. There was a lot of Bollywood and Bhangra mixed in this ceremony to add more fun. The best part was when the families on both sides had a friendly musical faceoff – the Gujjus vs. the Marathis!

Aaditi kept her look very simple for this fun ceremony. She wore a stunning silver-champagne colour lehenga and left her hair open. She completed her look with almost natural makeup and long earrings. Dhruv wore a rust-coloured kurta with an olive green bandi jacket.

For the Haldi ceremony by the poolside, everything had to be yellow…not! The ceremony was a mix of a spa and brunch event by the pool for the guests. The haldi was a riot… almost like playing Holi! The one thing that stood out in this ceremony was the décor! Unlike a typical Haldi ceremony, the canopy-like set up over the pool was turquoise blue and the to-be-bride and groom were made to sit on two turquoise blue diwans in the pool aka the perfect pool Haldi party! Strings of marigold flowers added the yellow colour.

Both Dhruv and Aaditi wore yellow for the ceremony. While Dhruv wore a yellow kurta, Aaditi wore a simple white lehenga with a yellow dupatta and white-yellow floral jewellery.

For the wedding, Aaditi looked stunning in her red designer lehenga by Chamee and Palak. In fact, it was Dhruv’s sister Namrata, who is very passionate about Indian wedding outfits who introduced Aaditi to the designers.

Aaditi wanted a traditional wedding lehenga with an elegant twist, and that is exactly what Chamee and Palak made happen. They made one of their traditional designs in an elegant shade of red. “These decisions, although very hard to makeover Facetime when I first saw the lehenga in person, I totally fell in love and thank god I trusted Chamee and Palak. They totally delivered and how!” – Aaditi, the bride.

Aaditi kept her makeup simple and wore a stunning choker with emeralds and polki to perfectly contrast her red wedding lehenga.

About the Photographer

“Namrata’s wedding was actually one of the very first weddings covered by Memoire lead. And years later now, having seen their amazing portfolio and his easy-going yet confident personality is what drew us to finalizing Memoire. The Memoire team really got to know both Dhruv and I, our styles and visions for the wedding while we were still planning the wedding from the US. When we actually met the team, their calm, well organized and creative energy really vibed well with us. Their reassuring smiles and friendly banter as they followed us throughout the wedding added to the great experience.” – Aaditi

Srishti and Dev Doab Vilas Resort Wedding

‘When love knocked on the doors of a corporate professional and defense officer, they knew it was for a lifetime!’

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength, while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ― Lao Tzu

The Story

Destiny played cupid in Srishti and Dev’s story as they met each other at such a juncture in life when they were not keen on even getting into a relationship, forget getting married at all! But life had other plans in store for this multinational company working woman and IAF officer. After being introduced to each other by Srishti’s sister who is also married to an officer, they hit it off instantly and in the first meeting itself decided to get hitched! Well, you know how the saying goes, ‘Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans!’

The Proposal

Quite like their unusual and unexpected story, their proposal too was an unplanned one! Dev proposed marriage to Srishti on their first meeting itself. Recounting that day, this much in love bride says, “On our first meet-up at a pub over a drink, in just a couple of hours he was sure that he could spend his life with me through thick and thin. Whereas I insisted on getting to know each other by spending some more time together. But he had made up his mind and he had decided that he doesn’t need more time to rethink about his future life with me. He was very sure that he was going to convince me anyhow.”

Surreal, isn’t it?!

The Wedding

This couple were keen on having an intimate destination wedding close to the bride’s hometown, Meerut. With just close relatives and friends in attendance for a three-day event their idea was to have a wedding full of fun where both the bride and groom can enjoy and cherish their own wedding which is generally a far fetched thought with all the arrangements to be looked after.

Hence all the events were planned at Doab Vilas Resort as they have an amazing set-up consisting of two different halls , a lawn and a pool area, where you can plan your functions with ease as per the theme in mind.

For their first event which was an intimate mehendi ceremony only for the family members, Srishti wore a sequined knee length jumpsuit. She paired it with a floral bun and statement earrings to add to the bride vibes and opted for a minimalist makeup look. Dev, on the other hand, wore a classic blue shirt and grey trousers and paired it with a matching scarf.

The following day an elaborate mehendi function was planned. For this, the bride opted for a blue slit skirt with a crop top to give a vibrant fusion look and completed her look with a swarovski maang tikka! This event was followed by a fun haldi and pool party. Srishti rocked in a bright yellow lehenga while Dev wore a khadi yellow shirt with shorts. Later for the pool party the bride changed into a crop top with a floral print plazo.

Next in line was the engagement and cocktail party. For this the lady in love stepped out in a  fully embellished offbeat black gown, all ready to dance the night away! She paired it with layered neckpieces, statement swarovski earrings and a complimenting hair clip on one side to give it an old glam vintage look. Dev looked dapper in a perfectly fitted three-piece suit with a white shirt and back tie. They sure looked straight out of a dream!

Come d-day, the bride looked like a million bucks in her wined-hued embellished lehenga while the groom looked no less in a custom made sherwani designed by the bride itself! The next day was the day of the bidaai. Srishti wore a pure silk Banarasi saree while Dev also kept it traditional in a silk kurta and a white lower.

And finally, the last event in line was the reception ceremony. Srishti donned a mustard lehenga embellished heavily with signature gotta patti work. She paired it with contemporary temple jewellery and bright glossy makeup. Her spouse, Dev wore a dreamy fuchsia pink sherwani with custom-made rose gold buttons. Needless to say, this couple looked picture-perfect in every way!

Lockdown Destination Wedding: Dhwani Weds Kevin in Saputara

Imagine this – the entire world is in a lockdown and the government has just announced Unlock Phase 1.0 and you grab this opportunity to get married… but this is not it. You plan a quick destination wedding and what’s more your wedding happens to be the very first lockdown destination wedding!

Yes, this is exactly how our couple Kevin and Dhwani wedding story begins…

Kevin and Dhwani had planned a grand ‘Big Fat Gujju’ wedding for themselves but the pandemic had other plans. While this was upsetting, they did not give up hope. Therefore, as soon as the government announced the unlock phase 1.0, they gathered their family together to head to Saputara in Gujarat to celebrate their intimate lockdown destination wedding!

Therefore, with careful planning, considering all Government norms, keeping sanitisation and safety as their main priority, they tied the knot at Sunotel Resort, Saputara on 1st June 2020.

Weddings are often considered events where families and friends come together to enjoy big celebrations but given the situation, the couple and their families ensured that their wedding was an intimate one where all social distancing norms were followed. And who knew that such strong and determined love for each other could turn this event as one of the most memorable experiences of a lifetime!

The Wedding

For their intimate mehendi ceremony, Dhwani looked like a gypsy princess in her yellow and grey lehenga outfit. Her lehenga hem featured a silver sequin border and she completed her look with stunning silver jewellery.

For her sangeet ceremony, Dhwani stunned in a teal blue gown while Kevin wore a grey bandhgala to match her.

For the Haldi ceremony, she wore a bright yellow ensemble and red and white floral jewellery.

For the main wedding ceremony, Dhwani looked like a princess in her red wedding lehenga. She completed her look with heavy gold jewellery with polki and emeralds, and a heavy gold matha patti.

The groom wore an embroidered sherwani in green with matching safa and kalgi.
