An Incredible Indo-Serbian Wedding- Ansh & Slobodanka

AnshAna Destination Wedding

‘When love knocked on the doors of a lovely Indo-Serbian couple, they knew it was for a lifetime.’

“Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage.” ― Lao Tzu

The Story

Destiny played cupid in uniting Slobodanka and Ansh and they travelled from being complete strangers to life partners. Hailing from two completely different cultures, backgrounds and even nationalities who could have thought that desi boy Ansh would fall head over heels in love with Slobodanka, a stunning Serbian woman?! Well, you know how the saying goes, ‘Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans!’ That is exactly what happened with these two love birds. And the rest is history 🙂

The Wedding

Hailing from two completely different cultures, Slobodanka and Ansh planned a dreamy Serbian wedding in Serbia, followed by a big fat Indian wedding at the Titanic Mardan Palace in Turkey. This extravagant Indo-Serbian wedding experience was brilliantly planned and executed at a very short notice. All the vendors and collaborators worked the magic behind the scene and made their wedding celebrations look perfect!

Slobodanka shared, “Ansh and I are both working professionals, and so, time is a luxury which both of us are short on. Also, unlike any single-location wedding, shuttling between countries was no small feat. “

Despite our apprehensions of giving him candid shots and poses, he managed to surprise us with an exceptional outcome. Shruti and Ronak’s Big Fat Mumbai Wedding

‘When a chance meeting turned into friendship and graduated into love’

Love is friendship that has caught fire” – Ann Landers

The Story

Sparks flew between Shruti and Ronak when they bumped into each other at Mumbai’s famous Canvas Laugh Factory where they had come to enjoy a fun stand-up show. They couldn’t take their eyes off each other and knew it was not merely by chance that the universe had conspired to bring them together. And as fate would have it, they bumped into each other again at Shiamak Davar’s dance studio! Over time they progressed from being great friends to loving companions. Their dance mentor too was instrumental in bringing them closer to each other. And there has been no looking back ever since that day 🙂

Traversing through the ups and downs of their long relationship, sharing and growing together over the years, marriage was the next natural progression of this beautiful chapter. Needless to say, both of them felt it in some magically silent way that the culmination of their loving relationship should lead them into an eternal bond of being man and wife!

The Proposal

Ronak proposed to Shruti in the most romantic way you can imagine! It started with a surprise romantic drive from Mumbai to Pune. Finally, on reaching ‘the spot’ Ronak popped out a ring under the starlit sky and asked the love of his life to marry him.

Beautiful, isn’t it?

The Wedding

The planning for this adorable couple’s Big Fat Indian Wedding began months in advance.  Since both reside in South Mumbai, they decided to plan their elaborate and elegant wedding (just like the way they always envisioned their wedding) in premier locations in their part of the city. Hence began the preparation for their larger than life wedding!

The festivities kickstarted with a vibrant mehendi ceremony that was held at Hindu Gymkhana, Marine Drive. The air was filled with excitement and vigour. Post this, a grand sangeet was planned at the spectacular Taj President, Cuffe Parade. In their true extravagant style, the bride and groom were dressed to kill, literally! Shruti looked absolutely mesmerizing in a shimmering white gown while Ronak perfectly complimented her in a chic black tuxedo. The sangeet evening was one affair to remember with memorable performances by their near and dear ones. For Shruti however, dancing along with her to-be spouse to the timeless Celine Dion classic ‘My Heart Will Go On’ was the most cherished memory from the event.

Come d-day, it was time for their much anticipated regal wedding. Being a fashion designer herself, it was Shruti’s long time dream of designing her wedding lehenga herself. Not only did this gorgeous and talented bride design her own lehenga, but also created Rounak’s wedding ensemble. And that’s how the bride, in her intricately crafted pastel pink lehenga, and the groom, in his elegant beige sherwani entered the resplendent setting of Mumbai’s coveted Parsi Gymkhana Ground, Marine Drive which was their wedding venue.

In all, Shruti and Ronak’s long and intimate journey found the perfect expression in the form of their great grand  wedding!

Deepali and Shainal’s South Mumbai NSCI Wedding

An eternal love story that was seven years in the making…

Some love stories are meant to be but marriage is another story altogether! And this is exactly what our lovely couple Deepali and Shainal experienced when they decided to tie the knot after 7 years of dating each other.

Deepali and Shainal’s Love Story

Bride Deepali describes her love story as full of drama but filled with love and laughter. Deepali and Shainal met in their first year of college, FYBFM, Jai Hind. However, they did not acknowledge each other for a whole year. Yet, Shainal used to send her messages on her blackberry but she never responded.

One fine day, at the beginning of their second year, they happened to meet at the entrance gate of their college. “My first question to him was “How do you pronounce your Name?” Being an unusual name, he replied back instantly “Shainal”. Our first ever date was at Theobroma over the so very amazing and fattening chipbutty burger! We started dating within the first two months of knowing each other. College was an absolute lovey and mushy phase. After college we were both together placed in KPMG where we worked together.” – Deepali.

Everything seemed hunky-dory until the idea of meeting each other’s parents came up.
“We studied and worked all throughout, but he was never able to make me meet his parents. We almost broke up in October 2017 due to this but he was really worried of losing me so then, he finally convinced his parents to meet with mine,” says Deepali.
It was December 2017 when the families met and it was literally the remake of 2 States the film. “I had waited a long 7 years for him to speak to his parents and never thought we will ever be together. But after all everything fell correctly, and we’ve been at our happiest since.” – Deepali.

Their wedding festivities started in June 2018 and their Roka was hosted at the NSCI, Worli Mumbai. For her Roka, Deepali wore a gorgeous piece from Aza Fashions. Their engagement party was hosted at the Bombay Adda, at NSCI. For this function, Deepali wore a stunning red couture piece by Gaurav Gupta and her makeup was done by ace makeup artist Afreen Shaikh.

The Sangeet, Cocktail, Pooja and Mehendi

For the cocktail ceremony at the Luna Nudo, St Regis, the theme was a gilded tale and the bride lived up to the theme with a stunning Monisha Jaisingh outfit. For her Sangeet function at the Taj Vivanta, Cuffe Parade, she floored one and all in a Manish Malhotra ensemble.

For the Pooja Function, she chose a Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor outfit. Her mehendi ceremony was a fun event and therefore, she chose a cute and quirky Papa Don’t Preach outfit by Shubhika Davda.

The Wedding – Palace Halls, NSCI

The wedding – the final event that sealed the both for Deepali & Shainal saw them both dressed in Sabyasachi outfits.

For their wedding celebrations at the end of 2018, Deepali walked down the aisle twice! Yes, once for the Varmala ceremony with the Laal Ishq song playing in the background and once for her pheras as Dilbaro played in the backdrop. Their wedding hashtag was a combination of their names #TheShaDee

“The moment for me was exactly what I had always envisioned…when I walked down the aisle, he couldn’t get his eyes of me. The minute I entered he whispered to me “You’re the prettiest bride ever!” – Deepali.

“After the Varmala, we both, hand in hand, walked to the mandap with tears rolling down. We couldn’t believe we actually met in college, fought the world together and here we are today. Inseparable.”

About the Makeup Artists & Hair Stylists –

“A very big special thanks to my makeup artist Shradha- Dolly You Up (Cocktail), Lekha Cut Collective (Mehndi, Sangeet & Wedding) and hair artist (Ritika Hair Stylist & Anita Hair Stylist) who made me literally look unbelievable with flooded compliments in each function. My aim was to definitely have a very different look in each function.
I am an absolute bling person, but i like having the correct and right amount of bling when i wear one.
-Cocktail was an absolute scintillating glam look.
-Sangeet was a graceful, dramatic and fun outfit with tassels that grooved with my moves.
-Mehndi was a pop of love, I had specifically asked for the Rapunzel from tangled look from Lekha & Anita, they surely didn’t leave a chance and gave me a real fairy tale look…
-Wedding was the absolute love for traditional red whereas reception was a bold and classic look.
The angels in disguise, my mom & sister who chose each and every outfit of mine.
I hoped to look even half as pretty as my mother.” – Deepali.

Deepali adds, “My fiancé’s outfits were all selected with complete coordination to mine.
-Sangeet we chose Rohit Bal black on black embroidered bandhgala in velvet. The heritage and most classic fashion designer of all time.

-Mehndi was absolutely his choice as he always loved Kunal Rawal’s poise yet statement giving looks. We chose a fun pink to match our two genres.
-Wedding, the offbeat green spoke for itself with minimalistic quilts and help of the Team Sabyasachi. They styled him to perfection. We both are quite picky in our selections but thank god for that. Each of our looks made us look better every day.”

Nooky and Gautam Bali Wedding

When a “pair of slippers” guided the way to the heart!

Winning hearts over a pair of slippers sounds interesting, right? Yes, this is a story of two strangers, for whom slippers played cupid!

How they met

Nooky and Gautam met at Tangong beach club in Sentosa, Singapore on 26 June 2016. Nooky ideally from Thailand had just moved to Singapore three months before they met. Gautam was the first to initiate a conversation and it kept going for a long time. In the beginning, there was really no expectation, just two strangers trying to make new friends.

Like a true gentleman, Gautam offered to drive Nooky home after having known each other for a while.  They reached Nooky realized her slippers were missing. Without Nooky even asking, Gautam drove her back to the club to find her slippers. They finally found them in the car park. Regardless of whether or not Nooky found her slippers back that day, her heart was stolen.”

The In-between Story

It was not love at first sight, but yes, they both had a crush on each other. The first time they said ‘I Love You’ to each other was on 27 Aug 2019. They were at Celavi, a rooftop bar in Singapore. While having a conversation, Gautam suddenly said, “I almost said I love you”. And Nooky replied, “but I love you”!

After the first meeting they both understood they loved exercising, within that week, Gautam asked nooky to go on a bike ride with him. “I love how I can be myself completely around him,”  Nooky said.

Gautam admired Nooky for being a strong and independent woman. He also found her very sweet, kind, and the humblest person he ever met. He was the happiest person when she was around. So, he thought why not be with her forever? For Nooky, she loves who he is and the fact that he always encourages her to do things out of her comfort zone (well sometimes he gets a little pushy :P) Nooky commented. Getting out of her comfort zone makes her realize how brave she is and inspires to overcome her fear. “Apart from that, he is a very honest person and he always says what he means. To me, he is the real man that I wanted to marry.” Nooky mentioned.

The Proposal

We asked Nooky about how He proposed her to which she narrated this beautiful incident “during our trip to New Zealand on December 11, 2019, Gautam arranged a helicopter ride in Queenstown. It was supposed to land on top of a glacier but, because of the extreme weather conditions, we landed on a nearby mountain top. He quickly got down on one knee, his voice quivering with nervousness, and asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ The other passengers all started cheering. Guess what he made me do after I accepted his proposal? He made me take a leap of faith with him at AJ Hackett Bungy Nevis Swing, which goes on a 300m arc!” She laughed.

Nooky was raised as a Buddhist but for some reason, she always felt a strong connection to Hinduism. She would always go to the Hindu temples even before she met Gautam.

So, It was quite easy for her to be with his family and learn new things along the way.

Nooky’s mom is also very chill and she trusted her daughter’s decision. When she first met Gautam, she was impressed by his polite attitude. “We were lucky that our parents were fine with our decision even though we are not from the same culture. Everything went smooth from the beginning.” said the couple.

Gautam shared a fun fact that Nooky never thought of marrying Indian, but her biggest dream was to wear an Indian dress at her wedding. So, she had decided that whoever she was going to marry had to accept the fact that she will wear Indian attire.

It did not take any time to convince their parents but they didn’t get married right away. They took almost 3 years to learn about each other and finally decided to get married. By that time, their parents already knew that they are serious.  Since Nooky loved Indian wedding it was pre-decided that they will have a traditional Indian wedding. They wanted to add a Thai wedding ceremony to one of the functions but realized halfway through the planning that it was a lot of work and they won’t get to enjoy. Nooky’s mother was just fine with not having a Thai wedding as long as there were proper prayers and rituals done in the Indian wedding.

Reminiscing the initial days of venue hunting Gautam explained, “this was a hard decision as Nooky’s family is from Thailand and were not comfortable with travelling overseas. We considered Thailand as our first option. However, there was nothing exciting about the venues there. We discussed this with our parents and fortunately, they were happy to let us choose our own dream destination for the wedding. We both love Bali. Not for just the beaches, but we also love the locals, culture and holy vibe of the place. We made a list of hotels to visit and saw almost twelve properties in Bali. The minute we walked into the Conrad Bali, we knew this was the place since it checked all our preferences perfectly.”

Gautam wanted a reception venue with big lobby and high ceilings as he believes that a lot of guests like to assemble in the lobby area to make conversation and get to know each other. Conrad’s lobby had a majestic view facing the ocean. The water garden was perfect for the wedding ceremony as it had a readymade mandap surrounded by water. The 8th-degree restaurant by the pool was a great place to host a mehndi party and the ocean garden, right by the chapel with an open lawn, was ideal for our outdoor reception. When we asked about how they managed to do the planning while working they said it’s all about teamwork. They would spend Saturdays planning the wedding and make sure to take a break on Sundays.

Gautam and Nooky are both easy and adventurous people so they wanted all their functions to be easy and fun. Their goal was to make the guests feel comfortable by making their lives easier so that they could enjoy with the couple. Prior to the first function, they had a casual bbq on the beach as our welcome dinner. “Some guests arrived quite late that day and we know how tiring it can get. We wanted them to be able to join us. So, we booked a restaurant on the beach at Jimbaran.

Wedding Ceremonies

Mehndi

The mehndi party was by the pool. For the decor, they preferred keeping things subtle, not wanting to incorporate too many colours at the venue, which was near the beautiful Nusa Dua Beach. Nooky and Gautam matched outfits for this event. She wore a blue and white saree with floral embroidery and mirror work by Elisha Wadwah along with contrasting pink and yellow floral jewellery. Gautam arrived in with a blue kurta teamed with a white stole by Sarab Kanijou.

Sangeet

Their sangeet night was no less than an adventure. The decor, which included Egyptian elements and a red and gold colour palette, was made to reflect their travel diaries. Nooky set the stage on fire with her first-ever dance performance to a Bollywood song. She looked amazing in a pink lehenga with a floral-embroidered cape by Dolly J, accessorized beautifully with stunning statement jewellery. Gautam looked handsome in a black vest with embroidery and pink crystals, and a grey kurta by Kunal Dieu, which complemented Nooky’s outfit.

Wedding

The wedding decor incorporated tones of peach, red and white. To decorate the mandap, the couple chose bright orange and red drapes and floral garlands. Nooky was dressed in a beautiful red lehenga by Shyamal and Bhumika, which she accessorized with a green emerald and gold polki jewellery set. Gautam wore a light pink and gold sherwani by Sarab Kanijou. Nooky wanted to incorporate her culture into the wedding, hence her family and bridesmaids wore traditional Thai outfits.

Reception

The theme for the reception was ‘I love you to the moon & back’. The venue was artfully decorated with fairy lights hanging from clear tents and a giant full moon with stars as the backdrop. There was a live band playing melodious tunes that set the mood for the evening.

After Party

Growing up in the US, Gautum enjoyed many music festivals and wanted the after party to have a similar vibe. Following an ‘Electric Forest’ theme, the decor included trees, neon flowers, LED drums and an Avatar-inspired DJ booth. Nooky wore a beautiful silver dress with silver embroidery while Gautam wore a blue tuxedo and both complemented each other perfectly. Nooky and Gautam kicked off the occasion with a touching first dance, with friends and family members giving heartfelt speeches soon after.

Ravi & Anj Udaipur : ‘ When a dreamy London love affair ends up as a regal love marriage in Udaipur ’

“Love doesn’t make the world go ’round. Love is what makes the ride worthwhile.” – Franklin P. Jones

Cupid struck Anj and Ravi when they were studying together at King’s College, London. The vibrant campus was their splendid setting for getting to know each other and becoming the best of friends. Sharing every joy and sorrow, studying, learning and exploring the city together, they soon realised that being in each other’s company was the highlight of their memories. And what followed a strong friendship was the beginning of a beautiful partnership. They started dating around 2014 and have been by each other’s side ever since.

The Proposal

Ravi surprised his lady love by landing up at her all girl’s vacation and proposing her in the most romantic manner! Reminiscing that day Anj says, “We had never even spoken about anything to do with marriage even though we always knew it would be each other. I was on a girls’ holiday in Mykonos and he flew out and surprised me and proposed. I have never been so speechless!”

The man who can go the extra mile is the man to keep forever, isn’t it?

The Wedding

Anj and Ravi’s wedding was an elaborate and lavish affair hosted at the heritage Fateh Garh property in Udaipur. They had a mehendi cum welcome party, followed by the haldi and Ganesh puja, wedding, sangeet, lit pool party and finally the reception!

The first day commenced with the magical mehendi ceremony. Magical because the couple opted for a Marrakech-themed function with classic Arabic music as are fond of it. They had a perfume bar for guests to make their own scents as well as a mini souk with a bangle maker and parrot fortune teller for guests to keep them entertained. Their spectacularly done setting literally transported all to Marrakech and made a perfect backdrop for fun frames. Anj dazzled in a yellow Tamanna Punjabi Kapoor lehenga while Ravi complimented in a Varun Bahl floral jacket with white kurta-pyjama.

The next day began with the Ganesh Puja followed by Haldi. They opted for vibrant colours in terms of décor. As it was a morning puja, the idea was to use bright pinks and yellows and embrace the fact we were in the rich Rajasthani land of colours and zest. The bride looked like a dream in a classic floral Sabyasachi saree for the event whereas the groom chose another Varun Bahl creation.

The same afternoon the couple had their marriage ceremony on the venue’s main terrace in front of the pool, surrounded by a stunning encompassing view. Anj literally looked like a royal princess in her silver and red Manish Malhotra lehenga. Ravi looked no less than a prince in a custom made Varun Bahl sherwani.

That evening the couple hosted their sangeet. They zeroed in for an enchanted forest theme.  They also wanted to incorporate their love for Disney into the themes. Hence the decor ranged from fine floral, artistic ferns to retro clocks, books and candles. They also had unique cocktails (e.g. popping candy, candy floss cocktails) and a botanical gin bar that let out a perfect fairyland meets forest vibe. For this event, Anj rocked in a Manish Malhotra ruffled black blouse and gold-rose lehenga. Ravi stuck to his favourite designer Varun Bahl and chose an elegant floral bandhgala.

After a packed day, the couple decided to ease things out with a pool party the following day. This was a super chilled day for all guests who only had to unwind in the pool and enjoy the elaborately laid-out brunch. The decor for this day was a Mykonos meets Nikki Beach theme as an ode to their Mykonos engagement and love for Nikki Beach Clubs. The DJ played chilled house music all afternoon while everyone simply had a fun time rejuvenating.

The finale event was the reception that took place the same evening. The setup for this was sophisticated and elegant. The decor played around whites and mirrors, with mirrored tabletops and gorgeous white flowers, centrepieces with candles and fairy lights. Saxophonist Ryan Sadri was brought on board and created a classy and timeless ambience with his performance. Anj opted for a scintillating silver Manish Malhotra gown and Ravi wore a Hugo Boss Grey Velvet Tux Jacket. Ravi also surprised everyone including his lady love by playing the piano and making it an evening to remember for all.

Tushar & Taylor Noida : ‘When two hearts met each other they knew this was a taylor made bond’

“Every heart sings a song, incomplete until another heart whispers back. Those who wish to sing always find a song” – Plato

Taylor and Tushar met in Chicago through Taylor’s twin sister and her husband who Tushar went to college with, (you see keeping it all in the family) and Taylor immediately developed a soft corner for Tushar ever since. As time passed and as destiny would have it the two started spending more time, hanging out often with their common group of friends and in the process, their fondness for each other grew organically. From long walks by the beach to bonding over paneer makhani, sharing their interest for fancy watches to buying random little things to impress one another, they both involuntarily wanted to carve out more time for each other. As the relationship grew, Taylor and Tushar love and affection grew stronger and they got more aligned emotionally.

The Proposal

There was no formal proposal out there for them to commit their lives to each other. Mentally and emotionally they had reached that place long ago. They both subconsciously knew that their relationship was turning into a partnership. Hence with the blessings of their respective families and elders, Taylor and Tushar got engaged in Delhi in December 2018. And then started the months-long planning for the wedding!

The Wedding

They envisioned walking down the aisle in a picturesque setting. The families mutually decided at Jaypee Green Golf Resort as the venue because it offers the perfect culmination of serene views, open airy spaces, with the vibe of a destination wedding. Shanqh Luxury Events were roped in as the wedding planners to materialize the dreamy details.

Additionally, Tushar’s mother, Mrs Niti Sharma was playing the role of ‘perfectionist mom’ and she put in great efforts from theme designing to choosing the right outfits for the couple. With one of the finest wedding planner and creative mom on board, Taylor and Tushar’s nuptials were nothing short of dreamy and dramatic! They had an elaborate and extravagant line-up of events which included the haldi, mehendi, Chura ceremony, cocktail and finally the wedding.

For the haldi, Taylor wore a vibrant yellow Gazal Gupta Patiala suit. Tushar kept it subtle and traditional in a white kurta. Mehendi was a celebration of vibrant colours. The bride opted for an intricate turquoise kurta-palazzo whereas the groom went in for a classic collared t-shirt and trousers. An elegant saree from Greenways was Taylor’s choice for the chura ceremony. Tushar looked comfortable in a pleasing Fab India kurta-pyjama. Dancing and singing the night away for their cocktail party, the bride looked a million bucks in an embellished Tarun Tahiliani gown. Tushar rocked in a Rajat Suri black bandhgala. Come d-day, Taylor donned a breathtaking pink lehenga by Shaveta and Anuj. Tushar complemented her in a rich sherwani from Diwan Saheb.

About the Photographer

Wedlock Photography by Amit beautifully captured the events for this couple. Tushar and Taylor have only pleasant things to say about them. They were particularly impressed with the eye for details and candid portraits by the team.

Tusshar & Megha Delhi : ‘When two sceptical hearts met, they entwined in love together forever.’

“The moment we begin to seek love, love begins to seek us. And to save us.” ― Paulo Coelho

From being sceptical about the idea of marriage to finding meaning and value in it on meeting each other, the universe played an integral part in Megha and Tusshar’s love story. What can one make of the fact that two souls who had inhibitions about the institution itself, would be introduced to each other through an arranged marriage set-up and end up together for eternity? But that is the beauty of love and the divine power of the universe. To put it precisely in Megha’s words, “We both found someone who would break those walls and make it seamless.”

After meeting each other all their doubts and apprehensions quickly vanished and they were sure they wanted to be with each other. It was a feeling neither of them had ever felt before! Hence, without further ado, they decided to take the plunge and were all set to ring in their much sought-after wedding at the ITC Mughal Agra in mid-April.

Enter the Lockdown

Imagine a scenario where your alarm goes off, you’re up late and your entire day and schedule goes for a toss. Now imagine, you magically find the love of your life, have the blessings of your loved ones and make all the preps to walk down the aisle and an indefinite lockdown is declared on account of a global pandemic outbreak! Even a day gone unplanned can leave us frenzied, this is but, a momentous marriage. Frustration and uncertainty soon followed for the couple and their respective families. But just like every dark cloud has a silver lining, Megha and Tusshar too chanced upon theirs. Megha recounts, “The following lockdown paused all our wedding plans indefinitely. Not knowing any way forward we sat confused and disappointed. We decided that the best way to kick start our new lives is an intimate wedding, with our close families, following all possible safety guidelines. So as soon as we were given relief by the government is when we started planning it again.”

Needless to say, where there is a will, there is a way!

The Wedding Story

With an overly enthusiastic and supportive group of family and friends organizing a ‘lockdown wedding’ felt like a piece of cake. Going down from 300 people to just 30 was hard to come to terms with in the beginning but then the couple realized it’s the wedding that matters the most and their closest ones- families and close friends will anyway be there with them. Hence, what followed next, was a meticulous, methodic and memorable period of preps that could also make for a masterclass in D-I-Y!

Doing the décor with makeshift materials brought everyone together. Backdrops were created using flowers from their home garden! They literally had to personally cut off spring flowers from the trees around their house.

Since Megha has a clothing brand of her own (those rare moments when you’re super proud of your career choices) apparels weren’t an issue. However, wanting to give a heritage touch to her bridal look, she opted for her mother’s resplendent gold vintage saree! She paired this with breathtaking antique jewellery. Tusshar perfectly complemented his lady love in a smart black bandhgala. Close friends, Gomit Chopra and Gautam Khullar agreed to do the makeup and photography respectively. This is how the couple rocked in their looks and everything seamlessly fell into place.

The icing on the cake was the support of over 150 people- friends, extended family and colleagues who cheered and showered love and blessings over zoom!

To sum up their unique nuptial journey and choice of wedding, Megha says, “For all the upcoming brides wanting to get married at this time we would just like to say be brave and be loving. It all just works out in the end.”

Truly, all’s well that ends well. Or shall we say, begins well!

Saurav & Kanika Dubai : When a solid friendship turns into an everlasting bond of marriage!

“There are no accidental meetings between souls”– Anonymous.

Introduced to each other by their respective families, Kanika and Saurav’s love story is a refreshing take on this quote. These friends turned lovers and eventually, life partners story is a fascinating one! They both were told about each other by their folks at home but at the time when they weren’t keen on getting married. However, acknowledging their family’s efforts, they both got chatting on Instagram! This was the start of their journey of getting to know each other. A few memorable travel trips, followed by meeting each other’s friends, spending time together and getting to know the other, all this over an approximate span of two years, they decided to take the plunge finally!

To hear it in her own words, Kanika says, “It has been a roller coaster ride so far. The best part about our marriage is that we never thought of each other as husband and wife (those formalities, that extra we do for our spouses) we always behaved like best of friends which we still are and will always be :). We both think that’s the key for a long term relationship. Saurav and I share common interests like travelling, food, and he always takes an interest in my work.”

With such a strong friendship as their foundation, no wonder Kanika and Saurav ended up as life partners!

The Proposal

Theirs was the most dreamy proposal in one of the most happening destinations in India. One can only imagine the sight it must have been to watch these two lovers commit a lifetime of togetherness amidst the picturesque setting of Goa’s sunset beach! Kanika recounts, “I was in Goa with my friends. Saurav decided to propose to me there as Goa is our favourite destination. He came to Goa and planned a surprise at the beach. I was lovestruck seeing the setup at the beach. It was indeed a fairy tale proposal.”

The Pre-Wedding

The journey to Kanika and Saurav’s big day kickstarted with a roka or engagement ceremony held in Aerocity, Delhi. The theme for this indoor function was floral-pastel. It had a very romantic vibe with soft hues, delicate lighting and plenty of florals. Next in line was the sagan ceremony. This was held at Orana Resorts and Hotel, New Delhi. It was all about glitters and glam. The space resembled a nightclub, just how the couple wanted it. LED screens and sharp lights were added to the decor to notch the glamour quotient up!

The Wedding

The finale to their fairytale romance and filmy proposal deserved nothing but the very best! Living it up to their story, Kanika and Saurav had the most extraordinary destination wedding in one of the most exquisite and exotic properties in the world- Fairmont Ajman. Holding court along the prime beachfront address and enveloped by the pristine white sandy beaches and turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, Fairmont Ajman offers the perfect backdrop for creating lifetime memories on your special day. Their three-day gala was an ideal fusion of refreshing beachside vibes and fun-loving Punjabis adding their hardcore zesty zeal to the functions.

Fairmont Ajman is a beautiful-beach facing property with aesthetically designed venues for ringing in all the traditions and functions. What better place than this to fulfil your destination beach wedding dream! Kanika and Saurav’s wedding festivities were a perfect mix of cultural and contemporary essences. The mehendi ceremony was both indoor and outdoor. Arabic theme was set up indoors with sheesha, multihued drapes in subtle hues of pink, ivory and orange looked beyond beautiful! Henna designs by Arabic mehendi artists was a spectacle to see. As for the haldi, the theme was vibrant and cheerful with sea-facing views and guests donning colourful dupattas. On the groom’s side, everyone wore yellow outfits, and on the bride’s side, everyone wore pink. And all bridesmaids wore pink sarees! Punjabis dancing their heart out to the dhol was the highlight of the event!

The cocktail theme was very modern and hip with golden yellow lights, crystal embellishments, assorted flower decor, lanterns and LED screens in the grand ballroom. They ditched the formal stage setting so that all can enjoy and groove to their heart’s content. Come D-Day; the beach was decked in hues of rose gold. The decor was quite subtle to blend the beauty of the natural landscape. Soft and sublime colours merged pretty well together, giving an elegant and cohesive look to the wedding. The marital couple opted for colour coordinated outfits in rose gold. While the groom settled for a bespoke sherwani from Diwan Saheb, the bride looked a million bucks in an Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla lehenga!

Neev & Tanya Mumbai : When an arranged marriage meeting turned into a love match for the couple!

“Teri kismat da likhya tere to koi kho nai sakda. Je, us di meher, hove te tenu o vi mil jae jo tera ho nai sakda” – Guru Granth Sahib

What’s meant for you will find its way to you. This story is something similar. Let’s meet Tanya and Neev and see how they paved their path to love!

The First Meeting

Cupid struck Neev the moment he saw Tanya! He knew she was the one for him. They met in 2017 at Neev’s uncle and aunt’s anniversary dinner where he saw her for the first time. But Neev didn’t want to make it obvious that he had fallen for Tanya already; hence, he ended up not talking to her at all! Neev was focused on his ways to make a place in Tanya’s heart. He managed to convince her and one of her cousins to crash a wedding that he was attending. From there on things instantly improved and something clicked between the duo.

The Proposal

They dated each other for a year and knew that they were meant to be together! However, the journey to getting married took three years. Because in India, marriage is not just two individuals getting married, it’s a harmony of two families. So during this time, the families formally caught up and got to know each other better. Neev and Tanya were counting days to the much-awaited wedding, but they made sure they didn’t miss small milestones celebrating their relationship in the meanwhile.

One day Tanya stopped by at Neev’s place for what she thought would be a normal catch up. Little did she know that a beautiful surprise awaited her! Neev was cooking dinner in the kitchen, he had kept a handwritten letter in front of Tanya where she was seated. And just as he thought Tanya noticed the letter, it was signed off with “So Tanya…” Her eyes brimmed with tears as she read the letter. She went into the kitchen to look for Neev. ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ by Frankie Valli was playing in the background, and just then, he romantically held out a ring.

The In-between Story

A mix of close-knit and grand affairs, the couple struck the balance between intimacy and luxury perfectly. They had just about six months to plan the wedding and they took this challenge gracefully. Neev had most of his friends and family in Singapore and the UK, so he always was in favour of a beach wedding. On the other hand, Tanya always wanted a grand wedding in Mumbai. She managed to get her way around this and they decided to get married in Mumbai.

The beautiful décor for their D-day was managed by Afreen Wedding Services. The all-time hit rocking “Ishq tera tadpave” fame Sukhbir and DJ AJ made special appearances keeping the spirits of the guests high. For photography, they chose one of the best, Naman Verma Photography. His artistic skill and eternal frames captured the special moments of the big day elegantly.

The Wedding Functions

Roka Ceremony

This was held at Tanya’s humble abode, perfectly done with beautiful marigold and shining lights. While this was a close-knit affair, the engagement at Trident Hotel Mumbai was a fancy one. Tanya wore a beautiful pistachio hued Sabyasachi sharara, while Neev wore a peach-pink toned kurta.

Anand Karaj

A dignified ceremony, the Anand Karaj was full of emotions for Tanya. She was beginning a new chapter in her life. Like any other girl, she was overwhelmed with emotions. Her eyes shimmered with tears as she hugged her family and the very next moment she stepped into her new life. She looked very graceful in the nude Chikankari Anarkali, accessorised by maang tikka along with ruby diamond earrings. Neev complemented his bride perfectly in a pastel pink chikankari kurta with churidar.

Mehendi

Like in a proper Punjabi household, her ceremony began with Dholki and the ladies in the house, her aunts and grandmother sang traditional wedding songs. This affair was again hosted at Tanya’s residence. Tanya looked ecstatic in her spearmint coloured outfit which was revamped into a stunning lehenga from a brocade sari by designer Kshitij Jalori. The rose-coloured dupatta perfectly uplifted the look of the entire outfit. Neev decided to twin with her and chose a kurta in the same hue.

The décor was tastefully done with multi-coloured flowers and a shimmery backdrop. Tanya beamed with happiness and loved the pampering she received from her pals while getting the mehndi done. She also posed with the entire squad for some cool pictures.

Sangeet

Everyone loves Punjabi music, right? This was the ceremony where both bride and groom let loose and showed some amazing dance moves. Then entered the well-known music artist Sukhbir with five dholwalas the entire crowd in the hall instantly had electrifying energy. Through the night, Dj AJ kept up the energy of the party and spirits of the people high until the wee hours.

Tanya wore a pinkish hued waterfall lehenga which had embellishments. This was perfect to make her comfortable to groove and match Neev with his Bhangra steps. Neev also picked something edgy and wore a midnight blue sherwani with dimensional thread work.

The Wedding

Finally, the big day arrived, and it was held at The Taj Mahal Palace’s Alfresco area. The couple’s vision of a modern mandap came true in the mirrored dome structure. It was elegantly decorated with flowers like peonies, ranunculus, hydrangeas etc that came all the way from Europe to make their day special.

Tanya chose Anamika Khanna creation in a pink hue with delicate embroidery and sophisticated zardozi work. Neev looked stylish in a Rajesh Pratap Singh sherwani made of handloom linen silk with fine gold zari embroidery all over.

The event concluded with an after-party at the Crystal Room in the same venue which had some emotional moments and heartfelt speeches from the families of the couple.
