A Grand Celebrity Intimate Wedding Amidst Lockdown: Actor Nithiin Weds Shalini Kandukuri

Since the news of Telegu actor Nithiin’s wedding hit the headlines, fans and eager beavers alike have been looking forward to getting a glimpse of the celeb’s wedding festivities. And finally, the big day arrived!

Recently, we shared intimate details of the actor and his long-time girlfriend, now fiancé’s engagement story. Both looked stunning in their traditional avatars as they put a ring on it to seal the deal for life on 24th July 2020. With fun sangeet celebrations taking Instagram by storm on 25th July, it was only natural that the wedding would be another extravaganza. And let’s say… the couple did not disappoint!

Sticking to their traditional roots, the couple embarked on their marital journey by tying the knot at the Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad on 26th July 2020. The current lockdown has paved the way for a new normal, i.e. making celebrations and events more intimate, more personal. And this holds true even for celeb weddings. Nithiin and Shalini had a grand but intimate wedding with only 50 people in attendance as per government protocols. The priest conducting the wedding wore a mask.

The celebrity couple had initially planned to get married in Dubai in a grand destination wedding but like many other couples, COVID-19 put paid to their plans.

The couple had initially planned a destination wedding in Dubai.

The excited groom first broke the news of his nuptials on Twitter and shared pictures from his wedding ceremony.

Captioned as “Mothaniki oka INTIVAADINI ayyanuu! Need all your blessings and love, – meaning finally I am a household man” he shared the post.

So, without further ado, here are some stunning pictures from their ceremony:

Looking dapper in a red coloured Lalchi kurta-pyjama with floral bootas, Nithiin made a regal groom. But his lady love stole the show! Shalini was stunning in a cream and gold Kanjeevarm saree with brilliant diamond and emerald jewellery. Her completed her look with a bridal bun and a simple yet elegant diamond mathapatti. Her beige gold dupatta added to her ethereal charm.

An Intimate Lockdown Celebrity Ring Ceremony: Actor Nithiin Gets Engaged to Shalini Kandukuri

A wedding has to be a grand celebration or nothing, right? Wrong. The four-month-long lockdown has taught us different and how! Weddings in India were always a grand affair but recently, given the pandemic situation and guest-list limitations, weddings are now simpler and smaller. This holds true even for celebrity weddings.

As soon as the term celebrity wedding is mentioned, we expect the whole shebang, right? Lights, camera, action! Uff… but like every other couple who plans on getting married during the lockdown, Tollywood actor Nithiin and his fiancé Shalini, decided to go ahead for a simple engagement ceremony to seal the deal.

Nithiin and his lady love Shalini Kandukuri are rumoured to have been dating for many years now and were initially planning a grand destination wedding in Dubai. However, given the situation, they have now opted for an intimate ceremony.

Seen at the ceremony attended by close family members on both sides, the celebrity couple looked resplendent in traditional avatars.

While Nithiin chose to wear a white kurta-pyjama set, his fiancé Shalini looked stunning in a red Benarasi saree with embroidered border. The bride-to-be completed her looked with a stunning diamond choker with rubies and matching earrings. Not to miss her over-the-top diamond and emerald studded kamarbandh! She kept her overall look simple with natural flawless makeup and braided hair.

And this is not all – the beautiful lady wore a beautiful baby pink lehenga in brocade with an equally gorgeous diamond set.

Clearly the couple had a ball at their ceremony as the pictures speak for their happiness!

This Crazy Couple Street Dancing is Pure Lockdown Wedding Goals!

New-York Times bestselling author Elaine Welteroth got hitched to her long-time beau and musician Jonathan Singletary in a candid, cool and contemporary stoop-style wedding in Brooklyn. The best part about this marriage was, no COVID-19 norms were flouted and no amount of fun was compromised on too! All thanks to this couple’s innovative way of celebrating their big day. Back home too, we’ve seen how couples are flawlessly nailing their lockdown wedding with some efforts. Be it Manika and Tushar’s intimate home wedding or further in Thailand, Pallabi and Francesco set a trend by getting hitched by the beach.

So guess what Elaine and Jonathan did? After weeks of speculating, both decided that they will not cancel their wedding date as they felt married to it already! 10-05-2020 was a symbolic sequence for them and besides, it was Mother’s Day, paying an ode to the two lovely women who introduced them to each other in church felt perfect. And that is how, Elaine and Jonathan literally ‘saved the date!’

Come d-day, this artist couple had an enthusiastic squad consisting of friends and relatives hooked to their phones and tabs to cheer them up. The most important aspect about their fun virtual quarantine wedding was the ‘stoop’ As New Yorkers without a backyard, a roof-top or escape estate, they were struggling to come up with a place that houses their ‘aisle’ to then walk it down. And then set in the Eureka moment!

What better spot than their stoop on which they’ve often danced, sang and cleared their heads together?!

And This is How it Looked 🙂

The Only Time Distancing was at Bay 😉

And savouring the best for the last, Elaine and Jonathan did something completely cool at their wedding that had even us cheering from miles away! For the handful of guests who did attend the ceremony in person, sanitizers, masks, gloves, white parasols and plant seeds and cookies for wedding favours were provided. Next, to ensure social distancing protocols are followed, they made a standing chart with guest’s names written on the sidewalk where guests had to stand according to their names. And then the finale! This kickass couple played music (with permissions in place) and broke into a delightful dance along with their guests who were in their designated places. And while they all danced, kids and neighbours cheered and held homemade charts to celebrate the spirit of love even in a lockdown!

6 Indian Indie Qurantunes to Hear when Missing your Special One this Lockdown!

Though these times are unprecedented, the idea of ‘longing in love’ is not new. On the contrary it happens to be one of the most explored and widely portrayed one in various art forms world over. The sufi concept of hijr (separation) and visal (union) has been the inspiration for some of the most path-breaking creations in literature, music, painting and cinema. Famous love folklores also rest on the same idea. Such is the enigma and mysticism of these feelings, that they do not cease to charm generations after generations!

No matter the timeline, day or age, only the expressionism of love has changed and will change with time. The core of the essence still remains intact. So matter the fact that lovers in the past were separated over tribes, lineage, political or even geographical issues or just like today’s covid-19 world where the entire human species is compelled to remain indoors, the nostalgia of missing and longing for your beloved is timeless and boundless:)

We thought to add a musical flavour to your missing by putting this list together for you. A rather indie musical one! If you’re done and dusted with those film songs, old classics and love-song of every era, it’s time to hear something new 🙂 Besides, there’s no harm exploring some new music this lockdown season too. Happy humming to you!

Raah Piya- Pakshee

This Mumbai Based indie band’s version will do that for you! Celebrate the distant beloved with this soothing melody that sounds like a divine dervish swirl!

Wagairah Wagairah- Ankur Tiwari & The Ghalat Family

Get transported to a world that is dreamy, raw and innocent while reminiscing the good times with your partner with this magical melody. A celebrated poster boy of the desi indie music scene, Ankur breathes life into the heartwarming lyrics with his soulful voice. As a side tip, it is best to enjoy this one with a glass of wine 🙂

Dilnawaz- The Local Train

Let your missing not just be about tears and choking. Rather, Delhi based Local Train’s Dilnawaz will make you feel euphoric about it! Euphoric about your ‘only one’,of being in love and just the idea of love. For all the strength you need to hang in there just a little more, this is your pick.

Dear dreamers and lovers, here’s leaving you on this musical note with lots of bliss and strength!

A Glimpse of what Wedlock in Lockdown Looks Like

Who could have thought just a few months ago that the most essential element of a wedding someday would be a ‘mask’ or the idea to practice social distancing at a social event would be the need of the hour?! Ever since the outbreak of the covid pandemic, the unimaginable and unthinkable has suddenly become the new normal. From virtual weddings, to micro ones, sanitizer booths and D-I-Y backdrops, the current circumstance has witnessed it all! To know of lockdown weddings where the bride and groom got hitched via technology from two different parts of the world with blessings from the priest who was in a third part altogether is not surprising anymore.

As the current scenario worldwide, calls for safety first, the scene back home here has also been particularly refreshing and responsible! Refreshing because Indian marriages are synonymous with extravagance and zeist. However, most new-age Indian couples have gracefully embraced this change and those who didn’t want to wait further to tie the knot, have gotten hitched in the most exciting and cautious manner. They have proved that minus the paraphernalia for them, all that matters is love 🙂

We came across some such couples and have put together their moments  for you to take a look:

Manika and Tushar’s Chat Magni, Pat Byaah Amidst COVID-19

At the beginning of 2020, we were all ready with our plans – plans to travel, to get fit, to turn vegan (maybe?), and of course, many couples were looking forward to their wedding! But obviously, unbeknownst to us, 2020 had other plans. It presented us with COVID-19, a pandemic no one saw coming.

So, instead of going out and about life, we were all halted exactly where we are thanks to coronavirus. Currently, the world is slowly recovering and the best way to do so has been by staying home and practising social distancing. But as they say, where there is a will, there is a way and for couples who wanted to get married, they did and how! Jo hona hai woh toh hoga he, right?

And the idea of social distancing is the complete opposite of anything to do with celebrations. It means not inviting and meeting most the people you want by your side, no large gatherings, no air-kisses, no holding hands and no mingling. But this couple overcame all these difficulties and adhered to all norms as they decided to tie the knot amidst the ongoing pandemic!

Meet Manika Agarwal & Tushar Garg!

As world over couples delayed or rescheduled their weddings, this couple decided that their ‘together-forever’ had to start now!

Tushar and Manika met through an arranged marriage meeting in their hometown Chandigarh. They were referred to each other by a common family connection. So, Manika’s family and Tushar’s family decided to meet. Fortunately, everyone got along really well, including the couple. So, T & M decided to meet again. It was in their second meeting where both realised, they were made for each other!

Getting married was a battle they had to plan and fight for! It was their first hurdle as a couple and as a new family. This is because Chandigarh, like every other city in India, was under lockdown. However, recently, the government had started allowing weddings under special circumstances, i.e., with very few people and with permissions from the local authorities. So, Manika and Tushar took permission from the SDM of Yamuna Nagar.

We took permission from the SDM of Yamuna Nagar and this permission allowed them to get married with only 10 people attending their wedding. But they could have delayed their wedding, right? And waited for bigger celebrations?

“It became important for us to get married on the same date because we were unsure of the COVID-19 situation getting better and we both thought that it is going to be a great idea spending time with each other being quarantined together and that we both won’t get this special chance again.” – Manika.

So, the couple went ahead and got married with only their immediate family members present. It was a beautiful and simple affair but a very cherished one. They got married in their house and both wore outfits by their dream designer – Sabyasachi!

Manika looked stunning in her hot pink Sabyasachi lehenga that she paired with gorgeous polki jewellery. Tushar wore a cream floral print kurta and he teamed it with a bright mustard yellow bandi. Must say, the couple looked amazing!

The wedding hosted at the groom’s uncle house was decked in marigold flowers with lush green backdrops peppered with white flowers. It was every bit simple yet beautiful.

While the wedding was intimate and fun, it had its own challenges. In our Indian culture, a wedding is an occasion where the family from all over is invited but getting married amidst COVID-19 meant that no one could attend apart from the immediate families. Plus, even Manika’s family had to take special permissions to travel to get to the Tushar’s house.

Next challenge they were presented with was with the vendors – pulling off an entire wedding with so little guests, arranging the decoration, sweets, Jai Mala and so much more! But everything was in place thanks to all the vendors even they were short on their inventory. They took great interest and put in a lot of hard work to see this couple married.

“Though our families were a little confused about the lockdown wedding as everyone had big dreams related to the wedding, but when they saw their children being happy about the idea of the lockdown wedding, they were really supportive of taking it further,” said the couple.

“Today we feel grateful each moment. We thank God for blessing us with the resources that we could pull this off.” – Manika.

“We feel we actually complete each other.” – Tushar.

Planning a wedding is no easy task and planning an intimate wedding that is much smaller and simpler, is ever more difficult. It can only happen when everyone from the couple to all the family members is on the same page. Plus, it means rising above all materialistic pleasures. “It’s only your partner that care for and nothing else. Everything else feels smaller. And we actually felt that with each other.”

A Proposal in Paris: Prerna and Ankur’s New Beginnings

“Kehte hai agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho, toh puri kainat usse tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai…” – Om Shaanti Om

When I read Ankur and Prerna’s story, these were the dialogues that first came to my mind. So very true, don’t you think? Imagine a chance meeting turning into a lifetime of love! SO mushy <3

So, let’s see how things unravelled for the couple –

Ankur met Prerna online through mutual contact and got chatting with each other. In the very first few days itself, they felt a connection and something ‘clicked’ for them. And surprisingly, they hadn’t even met! Plus, meeting each other needed a lot of planning as Ankur was based in the USA while Prerna lived in France. Therefore, they had to wait for two months before their first meeting. “She was visiting the USA for a “vacation” which was planned before we even knew each other. This was clearly destiny bringing us together!” says Ankur.

So, while Prerna was under the impression that they would do a fun couple’s photoshoot, Ankur had more on his mind. Given their long-distance relationship and months of staying apart, one thing he wanted to make sure was to seal the deal with his lovely Prerna. Therefore, he planned a surprise proposal and the very fact that they going to be in Paris just happened to be an added bonus.

As they arrived in Paris, both of them were really excited. They met their photographer, Vio at the designated meeting place. “As we walked up the stairs of the Trocadero, Voila, the sun had come out from behind the clouds. The brilliance of the bright sunshine and the magnificent Eiffel standing tall merged into a single joyous and spirited impression, creating a dreamy sight to behold,” says Ankur.

It’s like the Universe was helping Ankur make this proposal a super dreamy one for his lady love!

As the photographer Vio set up his camera to test the lighting, they both got ready to pose. And being in love, they were very comfortable in each other’s presence, hence, the candid shots were easy to come. A few minutes later, Vio asked, “Guys, are you ready for the best shot?” Prerna smiled and turned towards Vio, asking him, “What’s the best shot”? As she turned back to Ankur, she saw him holding a card, a handmade one at that. Taking the card from him, she excitedly asked, “Heyyyyy! What’s this for?” I smiled, looked into her eyes and gave her the card. As she opened it, I went down on my knees and popped the question.” Says Ankur.

This is how the proposal went:

“You make me happier than I ever thought I could be, and if you’ll let
me, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make you feel the same way.
Let’s grow old together?” The words froze in her mouth as she hustled down to
kiss me. Time had indeed stopped for the two of us.”

Gosh, we suggest you keep the tissues handy, folks! Can anything be more romantic? Even the simplest of things need much planning and thankfully, it paid off! We hope this is the very start of Ankur & Prerna’s happily-ever-after and we can’t wait for the wedding to happen!

Getting Creative: How Couples are Tying the Knot During Coronavirus

When the going gets tough, you make the most of what you have and cherish the little moments. That is exactly the case for these wonderful couples who got creative with wedding planning. While most couples were forced to postpone their wedding dates, some decided to get a little creative and make use of available resources to get married on the set date. Keeping in mind the health and safety of everyone, these couples made sure that #LoveInTimeOfCoronavirus was a real thing. Read ahead:

Married at a Notary

San Diego residents Rashaun Phillip Sourles and Katira Shores had their wedding date set for April 11 at the Peppermill Resort Hotel in Reno. They had it all planned — a buffet dinner, 55 guests and a layer cake topped with a Muhammad Ali figurine because they met at the museum dedicated to the champion boxer at Louisville, Kentucky. Unfortunately, the state lockdown forced the couple to drive down 2½ hours on 19 March to an Alhambra notary public office completely decked in their wedding attires. Had they waited another day, their marriage would have been postponed indefinitely.

Nani’s house to the rescue!

Remember the #RCBgirl? Yes, the one that became an internet sensation overnight, thanks to the cameraman who constantly focused his lens on her rather than the IPL match that was underplay. Deepika and her beau, Chitang had planned for a lavish destination wedding in Thailand but due to COVID-19, the couple had to cancel everything. Instead, they had an intimate wedding ceremony at the bride’s nani’s home, the same way her parents got married as well! Deepika wore the Dil-Guldasta Sabyasachi lehenga with contrasting emerald jewellery while Chitang looked dapper in a beige bandhgala outfit with a pretty golden and red safa and multi-layered green neckpiece.

‘I do’ on Google Hangouts

As we all know, Social Distancing is the need of the hour. Christie and Jeff decided to take that aspect into consideration, the couple got married on Google Hangouts with their friends and family online to notice the bittersweet moment. With the audience muting their microphones and Vince Guaraldi, Bola Sete and Friends crooning in the background to serenade the couple, Christie and Jeff exchanged vows within the comfort of their own sweet home.

Street full of witnesses

A year of wedding planning for Alba Díaz and Daniel Camino but never did they anticipate a deadly virus to dampen their beautifully detailed wedding day. But, the two did not let it get in their way of getting married. A whopping rise in the number of positively tested Coronavirus cases in Spain, the couple went ahead with their wedding plans by getting married at home and announcing ‘I do!’ from their window for their friends, family and neighbours to cheer them on.

A masked affair

22nd March (Sunday) was announced as Janta Curfew in India which restricted any kind of movement anywhere in the country. But, in Chennai, it was an auspicious day for getting married and most couples had already planned out their wedding for the day. One such marriage was of V Vimalkumar. He was supposed to tie the knot with Kamali at Saidapet, in the presence of DMDK party president Vijayakanth. Following the announcement of Janta Curfew, both parents were apprehensive about going ahead with the wedding without Vijayakanth. On coming to know of this, Vijayakanth decided to solemnise the wedding at his Saligramam residence. Everyone wore a mask during the function.

Facebook Live and Skype for this couple

Danielle Burnette and her fiancé Ismael Cruz may have shifted their wedding plans to August but nevertheless, they exchanged vows last Sunday while going live on Facebook and Skype. This way, their families and friends were present for the lovely moment while being safe and secure within the comforts of their homes.

#HealthcareAlert Dos and Don’ts for Covid-19

Coronavirus has changed the way we look at our daily lives. This pandemic has taken over the world with 1.83 lakhs affected, many many dead and then, many have even recovered. However, in these uncertain times, it is best to stay cautious.

Obviously, the world wide web is filled with information regarding the virus, how it affects people, no. of people dying and much more. It is also filled with rumours, them being the primary cause of panic. So, while we are all working from our homes, staying safe and not mingling, here are some essential dos and don’ts to stay safe and healthy.

Dos:

Practice Social Distancing

Yes, this is the need of the hour. Best not to meet people, relatives or friends even.
P.S. This is every introvert’s fantasy come true!

Wash your Hands

An important WHO directive, we need to wash our hands very often. This is because in our current lives we happen to touch many many objects. And as a precaution to keep germs away, washing hands with a sanitizer or soap is important.

Wear a Mask

Another important thing is to wear a mask when stepping out or when meeting people. However, an important thing to note is that a mask should be worn by people who have flu symptoms or who are unwell. People who are well, need not wear a mask.

Maintain Hygiene

It is important to bathe daily even though one is at home. Eat healthy food and sleep well.

Don’ts:

Don’t Touch your Face or Nose Often

Do not Hoard Masks and Sanitizers

Be conscious of other people’s needs as well. You cannot be safe if other people aren’t!

Avoid Unnecessary Travel

This is very important. If not required, do not travel at all.

Do not go to Crowded Areas

Malls, theatres, offices, etc. are closed due to a reason. Public transport has slowed down. All this is done to avoid/ curb the spread of the virus. So be mindful of these and stay put.

Do not Believe in Rumours

Perhaps, the most important point is to not believe or participate in rumour-mongering.

Do not self-medicate

#LoveInTheTimeOfCorona: Songs and Movies to Keep Love and Social Distancing Spirit Alive!

“Aao na, gale laga lo na”

Ummm, no. Now is not the time to get cosy with skin to skin interaction – especially, if you are down with the flu or trying to practice social distancing by self-quarantining yourself. You know what will happen if the Novel Coronavirus spreads?

“Dekho seene mein kaisi hulchul machi hai o saajna!”

You wouldn’t want this to happen, right? If you get tempted for any reason, just tell yourself that everyone around is Preeti and the virus is Kabir Singh who will cause you great discomfort if you come anywhere near the former.
Koi haath nahi lagayega!

Having said that, we are aware that it can be a little difficult for young love birds, to-be weds or even couples to deal with COVID-19. For those who have isolated themselves individually, video chats and phone calls are the strong pillars that are helping them stay afloat. Keeping that in mind, we have curated a list of songs and movies that can help these couples keep the love alive while practicing social distancing from each other:

SONGS

Dooriyan Bhi Hai Zaroori – Break ke Baad

Touch Me Don’t Touch Me –  Dhoom 2

Pari Hoon Main – Dhuan

Akele Hum Akele Tum – Akele Hum Akele Tum

Nahin Nahin Abhi Nahin – Jawani Deewani

MOVIES

Salaam Namaste

Dil Chahta Hai

Akele Hum Akele Tum

Hera Pheri

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

We understand that doori sahi jaye na but given the current situation and the alarming rate at which the virus is spreading, it is crucial ki dooriyan hai zaroori.
