This groom surprised his fiance with a Harry Potter themed sangeet and its too cute to handle!

Meet these US-based newlyweds, Arun and Roshna Prakash – they met 2 years ago in Chicago, fell in love and have been inseparable since then. Happily married now, their sangeet was one hell of an event! Arun surprised his fiance and how! Here’s what happened:

The story behind it:

For Roshana, getting married to someone who is not a potterhead was next to impossible. But as they say love is blind, and she did fall in love with Arun who didn’t know the ‘H’ of Harry Potter!

To impress his lady love, Arun watched all the HP movies. When he finally had all the information collected, he found the perfect way to surprise Roshana. He transformed the sangeet venue to a Harry-Potter themed extravaganza! Have a look below:

1. The entrance:

The ‘Roshna weds Arun’ sign-board was tastefully swapped with this board, having references that only a Potterhead would understand.

2. There were flying keys, snitches, and candles hanging from the ceiling:

3. Look at those wizard props – right out of Azkaban:

4. This is how we imagine Roshna initiated her Muggle-born husband into the magical world of Hogwarts.

We guess he belongs to Gryffindor now 😀 :

5. Gryffindor for sure!

6. They did a friendly wizard duel too! *Wingardium Leviosa*:

7. Ofcourse there was Arthur Weasley’s ingenious flying car:

8. Also, they had their very own Hogwarts Express leaving from Platform 9 ¾:

9. There was a waltzing session too – much like Harry, Ron and Hermione had with their dates at the Yule Ball!

10. We spotted Dooby too:

11. A magical moment:

12. A Game of wands? These GOT lovers had an Iron Throne built with magic wands! *can’t stop gushing*

13. Giving us major FOMO with the cake counter:

14. ….and then there were edible Golden snitches:

15. Magic potions anyone?

16. … then there was this tri-wizard cup:

17. ….and the cake:

18. They even had a guestbook with pictures of the couple inside, (total Harry Potter style) :

19. Guest Favours – All the guests who entered as muggles left as wizards:

20. They really went ALL the way!

21. Say Hi to Dobby! We think he is free because now Arun is going to be the slave (of Roshna) ;

A word from the bride, “I’m pretty sure he spent a lot of sleepless nights thinking about this and planning for this. Some of these qualities were actually what made me fall for him in the first place because I’m not a planner or surprise-giver myself. But, even otherwise, I would have happily married him sitting on our couch in our living room,”! *awwwwww*

This Ritu Kumar zari hand embroidered coral lehenga, made using the soft silk dupion as the fabric, makes for a perfect outfit for the bride-to-be’s BFF.

We don’t say go buy all these designer pieces for your friend’s engagement, because let’s face it we don’t have an endless trust fund in our names. What we do suggest though is, you can take inspiration from these and have your own spin on the ensembles!

This bride wore a bandhani lehenga and we can’t take our eyes off it!

In the race of being unique and opting for a never-seen-before wedding spree, a lot of brides do opt for really offbeat lehengas, keeping us mesmerized every now & then!

One such moment was when we saw this Sabyasachi bride wearing a bandhani lehenga and it’s been really hard for us to take our eyes off it! Check it out –

It’s beyond doubt that Sabyasachi Mukherjee always brings something new to the bridal scene with each passing season and this lehenga is proof to that.

She is the first bride of the season who has opted for a double dupatta lehenga with one shimmery dupatta and one bandhani paired with a plain skirt with golden border on it.

The groom too opted to wear head-to-toe Sabyasachi and we think looked stunning.

Well, not just the groom, the groom’s sisters too made a lot of noise with their choice of outfits. Have a look below:

Here is the sister of the groom all decked up for her ‘Veer di baraat’ in a red Sabyasachi all-velvet gown.

Here are the gorgeous ladies striking a pose at the sangeet:

Here’s what they wore for their ‘Veer Di Dholak’:

How fab is this fiery red Gaurav Gupta saree gown?

And, we spotted yet another sister in a Sabyasachi all-black gown looking absolutely gorgeous. Seems Sabyasachi was the favourite designer amongst the grooms-maids too:

Here’s more pictures from the same event:

And, lastly here are all the groom’s sisters at the mehndi. Any guesses who was the designer? Yeah, all of them opted to wear Sabyasachi ensembles this time too.

Also, how cute is their own ‘Veer Di Wedding’ poster? 😛 We think it’s totally cute!

One fashion forward wedding isn’t it? What do you think?

10+ Makeup mistakes to avoid on your wedding day!

On your wedding day all eyes will be on you and it’ll be your time to shine. You might’ve picked the most gorgeous lehenga with the most stunning jewellery, but if your makeup is not on point, the entire look can just fall apart!

There are quite a few things that can go totally haphazard when it comes to your makeup if you are not well prepared! So, plan ahead and ensure your look is totally flawless!

So, follow this guide and avoid making these most common makeup mishaps:

1. Too much makeup:

Your wedding day isn’t the time to experiment with something new for the first time. Also, don’t get too overwhelmed and end up doing more than what you normally do, it ends up being too much!

2. Getting Caught Up in Beauty Trends:

Thanks to Kim Kardashian, contouring (using bronzer and highlighter to bring out your cheekbones) is a huge trend right now. The unicorn eyes are also totally a hot trend. Although, we would advise you to not combine all the trends at once and that too without the supervision of a professional!

3. Skipping the Makeup Trial:

It’s an extra cost but we say it’s totally worth it. So, schedule your trial at least three months before your wedding.

4. Going unprepared for your trial:

You should always bring reference photos to your makeup trial. Many brides don’t do their research and then have to agree with whatever the makeup artist has to say. So make sure to pin or screenshot your favourite beauty looks and run it by your makeup artist.

5. Adding shimmer in the wrong places:

A little shimmer on the cheeks looks fresh and dewy, but worn on the nose or forehead too, can make your skin look a lot greasy! Although, shimmer on the eyes is totally hot. 😉

6. Applying Blush Incorrectly:

Concentrate on the apples of your cheeks, where you blush naturally. A lot of brides wrongly think that blush should be applied in a diagonal line under the cheekbones and up towards the temples, like from the ’70s but that’s not how we do it now.

7. Going for Too-Dramatic Eyes:

Really think this one through. Dramatic smokey eyes are hot, a touch of blue or green is dashing, glittery smokey eyes are stunning but all of them combined are not!

8. Choosing the Wrong Kind of Lash Enhancements:

A popular trend now is to get eyelash extensions, which are individually bonded with your natural lashes (much like hair extensions). We would recommend you to get them at least two weeks before in case you have an allergic reaction to the adhesive and to ensure that they’re comfortable for you.

9. Forgetting Your Brows:

Your brows frame your eyes and can truly change the entire look of your face. Aside from having them professionally done a week before the wedding, you’re going to want to define them with brow pencil.

10. Wearing a Foundation With SPF:

Many foundations these days include sun protection in it. This is wonderful for your everyday look, but for your wedding day; we say stick to the traditional formula. The reason being, such foundations can make your face look white and cakey in flash photography.

11. Using Airbrush Foundation:

Airbrush foundation can be ‘the bride’s BFF’ — if you’re someone who doesn’t need a lot of coverage. If you are someone who needs more coverage, you might want to stick with the regular high-coverage foundation.

12. Piling On the Foundation:

Many brides believe that they need a foundation with heavy coverage, in order to look good in photographs. Although the reality is totally opposite. To be able to see the skin glowing underneath, a sheer foundation, that matches your skin creates an amazing canvas for the rest of the makeup to go on!

13. Overdoing the powder:

Powder is great for mattifying your look, but when used a lot, it can sink into those tiny wrinkles and magnify them.

14. Skipping Body Makeup:

Makeup never ends at your jawline. It’s very important to even out your complexion on your décolletage and back as well, since these areas are on display in a wedding gown.

15. Not Waterproofing the Makeup:

Not just a waterproof mascara, you should opt for a waterproof foundation too. As a bride, you are bound to shed a few tears, so there can be nothing worse than having streaks of black mascara running down your face or white streaks of your foundation coming off!

Ok girlies, that’s it from our side! Just make sure that you do not make these little makeup mistakes and you are all set to rock your wedding look!

Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja are #CoupleGoals!

Finally, the news everyone has been waiting for is out! B-town diva Sonam Kapoor and her businessman beau Anand Ahuja will soon be taking their wedding vows.

This high-profile wedding is speculated to take place in Geneva, Switzerland, over two days, May 11 and 12. It’s been rumoured Sonam’s proud papa Anil Kapoor is personally inviting close friends and family to his daughter’s wedding.

The wedding is expected to see a lot of Abu Jani and Sandeep Khosla, Ralph and Russo for a lot of outfits of Sonam’s trousseau. She said, “ “I can see myself in all things and all people around me.” MERRY CHRISTMAS 🎄 “A lot of different flowers make a bouquet.”

3. When Anand miserably failed trying to ape her caption:

He said, “  see myself all around me 👀… a lot of people make a bouquet 💐.:: or something … what she said 👉🏼@sonamkapoor ! 🤙🏼✨⚡️😎 #EverydayPhenomenal

4. When Sonam surprised Anand on his b’day by arranging a meet with his favourite renowned sports person Nigel Sylvester.

She said, “Birthday boy with his new bike.. thank you for helping us out @nigelsylvester ! @anandahuja was like a kid in a candy shop.”

To this, Anand responded, “Best birthday gift! @sonamkapoor Thank you for the hook up @nigelsylvester.”

5. When the two attended a wedding together and did not mind posing for photos:

6. When he did the classic horns pose for the shutterbugs leaving from the airport:

7. Their random selfies:

8. When they spent the NYE together:

One with the fam-jam:

10. ….because he has a hashtag just for her – #EveryDayPhenomenal:

11. The way she proudly sported her BF’s collection – Bhane:

12. When they resumed their travelling spree and went on a detox getaway in Austria :

13. …and as they say, the couple that works out together, stays together:

Don’t they look too cute to handle?

All that you need to know about Aakash Ambani’s engagement to Shloka Mehta!

The news of the richest Indian’s son getting engaged to the daughter of a billionaire diamond trader was bound to break the internet and so it did! Although, we can’t get over how amazingly lowkey and stunningly beautiful the whole affair was.

It so happened that Akash Ambani, the eldest son of Mukesh Ambani proposed to Shloka Mehta, the youngest daughter of diamantaire Russell Mehta, at a plush five-star resort in Goa.

Akash is on the board of Reliance Jio, the group’s fast growing telecom venture, while Shloka, is the director of Rosy Blue Foundation since July 2014 and is also a co-founder of Connect For, which matches volunteers with NGOs that need them. Also, Akash and Shloka studied together at Dhirubhai Ambani International School.

The two families and their close friends gathered at the resort for a ‘get-to-know-each-other’ before the formal engagement. Though the two families have been talking to each other for the wedding for sometime now, the plans were formalised at the Goa event, which was planned before Holi.

The couple is expected to take their wedding vows in early December, with celebrations spread across 4-5 days, at the Oberoi, Mumbai, and we can’t wait for their formal engagement!

After coming back to Mumbai, the Ambanis threw a grand party for Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta. The guest list included all the Bollywood biggies – Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Karan Johar, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan with daughter Aaradhya and Katrina Kaif among others.

The newly engaged couple:

Have a look at the guest list below:

Shah Rukh Khan looked his dapper self as he arrived at the party.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Aaradhya Bachchan pose for the shutterbugs.

Katrina Kaif was clicked as she arrived for the grand party.

Kiran Rao and Karan Johar arrive at the party.

Sagarika Ghatge and Zaheer Khan looked lovely as they arrived to congratulate the newly engaged couple.

Harbhajan Singh also made time to congratulate Akash Ambani and Shloka Mehta.

John Abraham came casually dressed for the engagement for the party.

Woah! After having a look at their engagement pictures, we definitely can’t wait for their wedding!

The most unique, weird & hilarious ways in which real couples tied the knot!

Wedding is the most important day in one’s life and why not get married in the way which describes YOU the best! We have come across a few couples who tied the knot in the most unique, hilarious & weird ways, which according to them was the perfect way to unite forever! Check them out, you never know you may come across an idea for your own wedding! –

Skydiving – the first thing they did after tying the knot:

How about a skydiving wedding? What? You don’t like the thought of plunging from the sky as you are watching the ground get closer and closer? Well, we would like to inform you that a lot of couples actually dig this style of getting married!

Bungee Jumping after tying the knot:

If you quite like the idea of jumping off a plane, how about Bungee jumping? It’s a lot like skydiving, except you will have a bungee cord attached to you. Meaning, it is a bit more safer than skydiving!

So, just say your ‘I Do’s’ and take the leap(quite literally). Maybe this means your partner will know how to handle the ups and downs of a married life.

Underwater wedding:

For all the water babies in the house, this is one way of getting married too! You can have all your fam jam while taking the wedding vows under water! Doesn’t that sound fun and exciting?

Roller coaster wedding:

This one’s for all the adventure junkies in the house! You can also choose to say your I DO while on a roller coaster ride! It really does not get better than this!

Ice wedding:

Have always wanted to get married in maddening cold? Then we suggest take your wedding vows at an Arctic zone in Jukkasjärvi, sweden!

Cave wedding:

Looking to get married at a really unique location? Well, we suggest give cave wedding a thought! A lot of couples took their wedding vows in Dubrovnik, Croatia and we can’t get over how blindingly beautiful the pictures really are!

However strange it might seem to the rest of the world, Wiccan Wedding is really a thing! If getting married in nature has always been your choice, then you should totally consider this! Wiccans practise diverse beliefs, so no two Wiccan ceremonies are alike and you are allowed to have a little spin of your own.

Themed Wedding:

How about getting married based on a theme of your favourite book or movie? We are totally loving this couple who had a Harry Potter themed wedding. Brownie points to the guests dressed as characters from the movie and the bride and groom who had their reception in the true blue Hogwarts way!

Sports lovers rejoice as this one is for you. There are a lot stadiums you can choose to the your wedding vows.
